Presidency of the United States of America, chief executive office of the United States. In contrast to many countries with parliamentary forms of government, where the office of president, or head of state, is mainly ceremonial, in the United States the president is vested with great authority and is arguably the most powerful elected official in the world.

He presides over a large executive branch and many other branches of government (including the courts, military, the Federal Reserve Board, Congress, and the Congress of the State), which act by consensus. The Constitution protects individuals from undue government encroachment on their personal lives, but it does not limit government’s power to control commerce, business, or intellectual property.

This Constitution, taken as it is understood today, does not mean what it sounds like. It does not mean that you must be a born-again Christian to be an atheist. It does not mean that you must wear a particular religious symbol on your lapel.

It does mean that freedom of religion does not mean that the government must compel your government to create schools or health care facilities you cannot afford. It does not say that the right to choose any candidate in the presidential elections is no longer an issue.
