This was the first movement to succeed and to change much of the way people viewed their countries. The American Revolution was the first effective revolution against a European empire and provided a blueprint for many other colonial peoples who realized that they too could split and become independently governed nations. (New World Encyclopedia, 1). Many ideas were taken into account when the Americans rose up against Europe, all of which had historically been important factors.
Ideas of democracy, equality, justice and natural law were first thought to be fully applied in order to reform the old American Revolutionary systems. As the American Revolution was the first to succeed and to achieve independence, nations all over the world have been profoundly influenced by how democracy and equality have been part of their policy. The American Revolution started when Britain started to tax the colonists without their permission. The stamp actions started a chain of discontent.
