The economic and social structure of communism derives from the writings of Karl Marx, who described it as “the solved riddle of history, and this solution knew itself to be” (Marx & Engels, 1848). Yet other economists will simply characterize it as the abolition of private property. Essentially, the government owns everything in the ideal socialist system and distributes money to the people.
While several schemes have been theorized by a wide number of thinkers and economists that can be called revolutionary, the revolutionary ideology of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels is still seen as the basis for the financial system. Engels was not a deeply religious man, he was not an atheist; he regarded himself as a Pantheist (one who claims that God is the entire world, one with nature). In comparison Karl Marx was a committed atheist who said, “Abolition of religion is the first condition for people’s happiness” (Marx, A criticism of the Hegelian Theory of Law, 1844). Yet both men agreed that the natural state of the individual was one of morality, one of the creeds of communism, along with different religious convictions.
