Vaping Should Be Banned Essay

A current problem I see that has not been fully aware or solved is vaping or the use of e-cigarettes. There are places where vaping is accepted but, there other countries that are trying to ban the use of vaping. Before vaping was getting popular there was no signs stating you can’t vape, like how there are signs for cigarettes. For those that do not know vaping is for anyone who is trying to quit smoking but, the tobacco companies are trying to discount the products of vaping. They are not interested in the health of the public. My question to you is vaping helping people have a different alternative?

The problem with vaping is that it is growing fast and the tobacco industry is not too happy with it. The purpose of this study is to show why big tobacco industries that the use of e-cigarettes is a better result and that trying to ban it without showing the truth behind it is not right. What people need to know that vaping is safer than a cigarette because vaping are less damaging to the health than smoking tobacco. The use of e-cigarettes are to help smokers quit and to have a different alternative. Dr. Konstantinos Farsalinos, a world renowned cardiologist stated “vapes are not exposed to dangerous levels of aldehydes”.

They are at least 95% safer than smoking tobacco. The liquid use for vaping contains four basic ingredients, propylene glycol, vegetable glycerol, nicotine, and flavoring. Propylene(PG) is the carrier for the nicotine and flavoring, which produces the vapor. Vegetable Glycerol(VG) is the back up carrier, sometimes combined with Propylene. Nicotine is an alkaloid which is found in tobacco plants. Nicotine does have addictive properties, it also has a stimulus effect on the brain triggering receptors and letting off chemicals. Flavoring varies from many things.

For an example, they have menthol, ango, strawberries and etc. It can replace the need for nicotine. Vapor dissipated in eleven seconds while smoke lingers for about twenty minutes. This shows that vapor is better than the chemicals coming out of a cigarette. Vapor companies are not big tobacco. Vaping is not smoking. The California of Public Health is protecting cigarettes and is giving false propaganda about vaping. NotBlowingSmoke. org is a website that shows numerous facts about the use of vaping that the big tobacco is not telling us. It’s fighting against the tobacco industry to prove a point that has not yet been solved.

Big Tobacco ignored vaping until it grew large to threaten its profits. “Safety Evaluation and Risk Assessment of Electronic cigarettes Substitutes” by Dr. Farsalines of Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center concluded that “currently available evidence indicates that electronic cigarettes are by far less harmful alternative to smoking and significant health benefits are expected in smokers who switch from tobacco to e-cigarettes”. This problem exists because tobacco companies will not let vaping take over. Big Tobacco’s action against small startups that are helping people quit smoking cigarettes.

Companies are spending millions of dollars to push products bans, higher taxes and expensive regulation on their competitors. Vape laws are coming about and it is a problem that has not been fully solved. With other countries and the community trying to petition to allow the use of e-cigarettes it is causing a lot of controversy. If vape laws go forward the FDA has to approve whatever is being made and it is going to cost millions of dollars for one thing. The tobacco industry can spend money to their disposal to decrease their competitors.

They may end up with an e-cigarettes monopoly. If vaping is forced underground a black market could happen. Some say it already has. If they are forced underground no one wins except smoking and Big Tobacco. The legal status of e-cigarettes is currently pending in many countries. To name a few countries that have banned the use of e-cigarettes are Brazil, Singapore and Uruguay. E-cigarettes have been listed as drug delivery devices because they contain nicotine. It was challenged in court and overruled in January 2010 by federal district court judge Richard J.

Leon, citing that “the devices should be regulated as tobacco products”. California for an example has had a difficult process how to treat the products. The State Legislature abandoned a bill July 8th that would have regulated e-cigarettes like other smoking tobacco, banning vaping in public spaces. Gregory Conley, president of the American Vaping Association, an industry advocacy group says “As proposed, the FDA’s regulation would decimate nearly every single small and medium-sized business in this market,” Conley said. Thousands of businesses would close overnight. And nearly the entire e-cigarette market would become either big tobacco or firms that are backed heavily by Wall Street money. ”

1. Why do you think Tobacco Companies is afraid of small business selling e-cigarettes? 2. Do you believe that vaping will have the same laws as the use of cigarettes? 3. Why would you treat this as tobacco product if it doesn’t contain all those harmful chemicals? 4. What do you think the health effect be like? 5. Why hasn’t the Tobacco Company show what the truth is behind vaping? . Do you think this problem started because many small business are selling e-cigarettes and it has come a long way? 7. What are the longer-term health effects from using e-cigarettes? 8. What is the reason for banning vaping in other countries but, not ban the use of cigarettes? 9. What is the reason why Tobacco Companies are getting worried about vaping? Is it because it is a better alternative for those who are trying to quit? 10. Tobacco Companies makes millions of dollars why should they have any concerns about small business selling e-cigarettes?

11. When do you think vaping will take over the Big Tobacco Companies? 1. Do you think there will be a problem if vaping had the same laws of the use cigarettes? 2. Many doctors are researching and thinking about providing prescription to people to switch over to vaping, do you feel it will be a good solution? Overall, I believe that there have been steps taken forward but, there still moving backwards. The vaping community have petition around their area to let them use e-cigarettes and they don’t understand why hasn’t cigarettes been ban yet. It’s probably because Tobacco Companies are too large and been around for years.

They have the money to decrease their competitors. There are many people that are unaware of using e-cigarettes and do not want to research it. The liquids use for vaping is not regulated by the U. S. Food and Drug Administration, and their long-term health effect is still unknown. It has helped many people quit smoking but, new laws are saying vaping is the same as cigarettes. I vape as well and it has helped me to stop smoking cigarettes. The transition was a bit difficult but, I did feel a lot better and not having the urge to light up a cigarette and to have the same feeling using a vape.
