Genetic engineering (genetic modification) is a mechanism by which the genome of an organism can be modified by various techniques in biotechnology. The method consists of modifying an organism’s DNA or passing genes into an organism to produce a new, improved version. Those species ‘DNA sequences are implanted in separate or in the same organism to help us produce favorable outcomes. Genetic engineering can be used to improve organism’s disease-resistance, assist animals in developing additional hormones, etc.
This reproductive method is different from the normal selective breeding system. Selective reproduction involves the genes originally present in humans. The offspring also still have the same genes as their parents and remain the same species. In genetic engineering, however, genes are changed. A different set of genes can be found in the offspring and can not be named the same breed. Genetically modified species can also be common in comparison to their previous generations.
