Childhood obesity

Obesity in America was never a subject of debate 40 years ago. A sample of 6.1 percent of children aged 12 to 19 were overweight in the early 1970s. The same study was conducted eight years later, with 17.4 percent considered overweight (Iannelli). “The epidemic of childhood obesity has now been confirmed in America, with overweight or obese children more than tripled in the past 30 years” (Childhood Obesity Epidemic).

“The incidence of obesity in children aged 6 to 11 years over the past 20 years has increased from 6.5% to 19.6%” (Childhood Epidemic of Obesity). Statistics as a country will be worrying. How are American kids so obese today?
