Supersize Me is a Morgan Spurlock documentary that illustrates the message of the risks of fast food and its impact on our wellbeing. He got the idea from a case of two girls who sued McDonald’s for obesity. The judge ruled that there is no proof that their obesity and ill health were caused by McDonald’s food. Spurlock chose, as an experiment, to only consume McDonald’s food for 30 days to investigate the effect of fast food on his health. The audience experiences in the film the drastic effects that fast food has on its physical health and on psychological wellbeing.
Spurlock uses various methods in the film to catch the attention of the viewer. He displays the data in a way that captures the audience’s attention; he often portrays the numbers and figures with bright, vibrant and broad fonts to make it simple for the viewers to gather information. The documentary is not not only insightful, but also entertaining as it portrays the information in a way that the viewer is interested in watching. In some of the reality he portrays he often uses sarcastic language.
