Abortion: Pregnancy and Child

A woman with a voice Is one with the choice A deliberate or Induced abortion occurs when a pregnancy Is forcefully terminated as a result of surgery. The debate about abortion has been a hot topic for a very long time. There are two extremes. The pro-choice, or the people that think abortion should be allowed, and the pro-life, or the people who believe abortion Is murder and it should not be allowed. Then there are some people who would allow abortion in some specific cases. Pro-life advocates are usually associated with religious people because many religions look down on abortion.

Many of these people are so committed to their religion that they are blinded by it. They don’t see all the advantages that abortion has; instead they only see murder and sin. I believe abortion has many advantages including the ability to save a woman’s life, economic state and psychological health. Pro-lifers insist that abortion is murder. Their clams are unjustifiable because murder Is only punishable If the person has rights. For a person to be considered to have rights, they have to have taken their first breath. Therefore, a child In the womb Is not a person with rights.

This Is why In the eyes of the law abortion Is not murder. Women should have the right to decide what happens to the embryo or fetus because an unborn child is a part of the women’s bodies. This is directly related to our right to refuse medical treatment. People have the right to decide what happens with their bodies when they are sick; therefore women should also have the right to decide whether or not they want to be pregnant. A woman can have an abortion for many reasons, but the one reason, which should be unquestionable, is if the mother’s life is at risk.

Many things can go wrong n a pregnancy and there are even more risks that women take. On average, 287,000 women die during pregnancy and childbirth every year and an additional 10 million suffer from Injuries, Infections, or diseases every year. Why should a woman have to risk her life? This Is even more appalling because the life of the child In not guaranteed either. A woman should be able to decide whether or not she wants to risk her life for the possible life of her child. Another reason for an abortion is rape. This subject has always been very sensitive because it is a traumatizing experience.

Nobody has any idea what rape is eke until it happens to them. Despite what anyone says, no woman is “asking for it. ” Not even if they’re prostitutes or they dress provocatively, no woman is asking to be raped. When having a child as a result of rape, the woman has to be reminded every day of that horrible experience because there was a consequence or an effect to the cause. Every day when she sees her child, she has to relive those moments. Being raped is enough trauma, a woman should be able to decide whether or not she wants to live with outcome of that moment.

Medical problems and birth defects In a child are extremely difficult to handle. The emotional pain that comes with having a child with defects Is something very hard. Many people consider this to be insensitive and cruel but that fact of the a child 2417. These children require special care, which include high rocketing medical bills, and special attention that some parents are Just not able to give. Many mothers’ work every day and don’t have the time to take care of a child with defects and they don’t have the money to pay someone to do so or to pay the medical expenses necessary for their child to live a happy and healthy life.

There is no denying the fact that every day the work industry is getting harder. Putting food on the table is becoming a challenge for many people. If feeding yourself is hard at times, imagine feeding for two or three or even four. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, which means that women have the right to want or not want children. A woman who has six children will probably not want and not be able to afford another child. We can’t turn a blind eye to the fact that poverty and unemployment rates are increasing.

Why would a woman want a child if she were positive that she wouldn’t be able to provide the child with everything he or she needs to be healthy and happy? A great example as to why abortion should be legal happened right in the United States. In 1973 the United States Supreme Court extended the privacy clause under the 14th Amendment to a woman’s decision to have an abortion. This landmark decision was historical. It was a case that lasted for months. The constant back and forth, the protests, and the extremists were unbearable. Before Roe, around 200,000 and 1. 2 million illegally induced abortions occurred every year.

Of theses, between 5,000 and 10,000 died from this and many others had physical and psychological effects. These women died because they were going to unsanitary and unsafe illegal abortion clinics. Some even went to even more dangerous extremes to not have a baby like using a hanger to terminate their pregnancy. It’s not fair that many women had to result to these types of solutions Just to get what they want: their right to decide what happens with their body. If they are going to do it either way, they might as well have the right resources to be able to do it.

In 1975 the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences conducted a study in which they declared that legislation and practices that permit women to obtain abortions in proper medical surroundings will lead to fewer deaths and a lower rate of medical complications than restrictive legislations and practices. ” This study was very influential and many pro-choice used it to back up their claims. Now a days more young people are engaging in sexual activity. Whether it is for fun, to prove themselves, or because they truly believe they love someone and they want to show it, there are severe consequences.

Many of these young people are too afraid or embarrassed to talk to their parents or an adult figure about what they do Hereford they are not well informed. They don’t use the right protection and the effect is teenage pregnancies. A minor is still a woman, she is still a person and she should still have the right to an abortion. A baby will change a woman’s life at any age but as a teenager, a baby can ruin your future. They probably won’t have the chance to finish school and this means that finding a Job will be even harder. The life of the mother and the child will be a lot to handle because many times they’re all alone.

The parents should be notified in order to instruct their child or try and revert another situation but they should not have to give their consent. Is adoption. Adoption is when the child is given to different parents or legal guardians. Yes adoption is an option, but many mothers don’t even consider this an option. Why? Some mothers recognize the difficulty of the adoption and foster care system. They don’t want to have to put a child through that difficult process. Some feel guiltier about that than about getting an abortion. They believe they have the chance of sparing the baby from a hard life.

Some pro-lifers go to extremes to get their message out. In 1998 Barnett Sleeping, an abortion provider, was assassinated in his home by James Charles Kop, an antiabortion activist who was associated with the most violent pro-life movements. Kop was wanted for several murders and a suspect for more. In 2009 George Tiller, the medical director of Women’s Health Care Services and one of the only late-term abortionists, was murdered by Scott Redder. These people say that abortion is murder and it should be illegal but they in turn murder people. They are contradicting themselves by using such violence therefore their claims become relevant.

A baby can mean many things. It can symbolize love, family, and happiness. But it can also symbolize hardship, economic failure, and psychological trauma. Women should be able to decide whether or not they want to be mothers depending on their own particular life and situation. President Jimmy Carter once said, “Of all the sharply debated moral and political issues in America, abortion is the most divisive. ” People have debated about this issue for as long as I can remember but the rights of a woman can’t be overlooked. The embryo or fetus is part of the man’s body therefore she has a right to decide what she does with it.
