Talk to your children while they are eating; what you say will stay even after you are gone. Sometimes, if you stop talking, no one will know what you are thinking. Everybody thinks that their views are more important than everybody else’s, and they should be the only ones who should be heard. But, that’s not the case, everyone is entitled to think and speak freely. Talk to your children while they are eating; what you say will stay even after you are gone is important to live by, which can be seen through Robin Williams, Jennifer Lawrence, the poem Opinions & Decisions, and the Presidential election.
Robin Williams shows that he is respectful, caring, and thoughtful when he helps the homeless, visits other countries to entertain , and when he visited St. Jude’s children’s hospital. Robin made a project that took homeless people off the streets and gave them reliable jobs. \Williams said “That a percentage of his crew would be homeless workers so he could give them dignified work”(Tauber). He created this program because “Sometimes we can dehumanize people because they look different, and that is an important thing to remember” (Tauber).
Robin Williams loved to help people, when he was hired on a movie he required that they hired x amount of homeless people. Robin cares a lot about learning about other cultures and countries. Robin Williams goal was to entertain people, “He made numerous trips to the Middle East to learn more about the people and wanted to entertain the his troops(Tauber)”. ___________ Williams loved to visit the hospital to entertain the patient’s. He was really thoughtful to think of them and visit a lot. Robin is all over the St. Jude hospital. “We have this staircase that plays music when you step on it, so we are calling it ‘Robins Magical Staircase’.
We want to memorize him because he meant so much to the children. ” Robin Williams was a generous man, his life goal was to entertain the people and he did, either through his charity or his movies. Though he died August 11, 2014 he will still be remembered for comedic films and generosity. Jennifer Lawrence shows that she very opinionated, she very open/ direct, and useful when she talks about how she was raised, her view of a certain candidate, and how the opponent uses her to add more celebrity support to their campaign. Lawrence shows that she doesn’t care what people think about her views or opinions.
Jennifer Lawrence states “I was raised a Republican, but I just can’t imagine supporting a party that doesn’t support women’s basic rights. ”(Stuart). Jennifer is entitled to her own opinions about how she feels about the candidates in the election of 2016. Women’s basic rights are important to her. Jennifer is very direct and opened on how she feels about Donald Trump. She says “My view on the election is pretty cut-and-dried: if Donald Trump is president of the United States, it will be the end of the world. ” She adds, “He is the best thing to happen to the Democrats ever. ”(Stuart).
Jennifer shows that she doesn’t support Donald Trump what so ever, she has nothing good to say about his campaign or his running. When Hillary Clinton finds out about how Lawrence feels about Trump she find her very useful to support her campaign. “Hillary Clinton might be angling for an endorsement; the candidate tweeted a link to the actress’s October essay, adding, ‘Brava’. ”(Stuart). Since Jennifer Lawrence proudly announced how much she hated Trump, Hillary swooped in for another kill, for another celebrity endorsement. Proving that this stars opinion and view was very useful.
Sometimes your opinions can help others, don’t be afraid to speak your mind. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. In the poem Opinions and Decisions it is shown, that when an opinion is stated not everyone will agree, people only hear what they want to hear, and sometimes there are compromises. Most people don’t want to agree with an opinion because they might not care, or just don’t want to argue about what a certain person says. In the poem, it says “I have a suggestion, I share my opinion, you give me an indifferent reaction, I thought it was an affirmation. ” (Santos).
Sometimes an opinion doesn’t matter to anyone else, everyone has different views on everything. Nobody has the exact same opinion or response to an opinion. Most people only want to hear what they want to hear. They don’t want to listen to what people have to say unless it’s coming from their own mouths. “For you got me believing, that my voice was worth hearing, but you were just lying. ” (Santos). People might ask for an opinion on something, but if they don’t like it, they’ll argue with what is said. Sometimes there is no win in an opinionated argument. Sometimes there just needs to be a compromise.
Maybe we could agree to disagree and I’ll let you be. ”(Santos). Everybody has to make compromises in their life sooner or later. Everybody’s opinions and views are important, win or lose, not everyone sees eye to eye. Nothing can have more violence, disrespect, and opinions than the responses to Donald Trump’s presidential win. After Trumps win on November 08, 2016 things quickly went downhill,. Violence quickly started bursting out in the streets multiple times. “An anti- Trump rally in Portland, Oregon, revved up as protesters confronted police Thursday night.
What started out as a peaceful march, with more than 4,000 people quickly turned violent. ”(Ansari). With this violence breaking out from the Hillary supporters shows how the people really think of Donald Trump. Its honestly sad that so many people can disrespect our possible new leader. He should be as respected as much as Hillary is. “People gather outside Los Angeles City Hall chanting ‘Not my President’. Outside the white house on Thursday night, protesters gathered with signs, some which said ‘Donald Trump is a racist’. ”(Ansari). If this doesn’t show how disrespectful Americans are then, I don’t know what does.
He isn’t even in office yet so there’s really no reason to throw a fit. People think that only their opinions matter but that’s not the case. The presidential elections and debates can be very opinionated with the president’s views,or the winner of the election. Professor Deb Bentzel said that “As a woman and someone who believes all people, regardless of their race, religion, or citizenship status should be supported and embraced by this country, the racism, hate, misogyny, and fear that this man (Trump) projects and fosters in others. (Ansari).
There are more responses to the election just like this, some positive and some negative. Most people just don’t care to read the comments or posts unless it’s close to what they believe. In society today, things don’t really matter anymore. People don’t care to look things up before they speak, people don’t care to look on both sides/ views of whatever the argument is. Conclusion- Talk to your children while they are eating; what you say will stay even after you are gone.
This proverb is important to remember because you should always be aware of what you say to others. You never know when your last day will be. Everyone should speak their mind but they must also think before they speak. One day you will say something that you’ll regret and you might never be able to take it back. This proverb is important to live by, which can be seen through Robin Williams, Jennifer Lawrence, the poem Opinions & Decisions, and the Presidential election.
