Noise can cause our ears to hurt and can cause some people to go deaf. The decibels(dB) of a noise are put on a scale if it is at or over then eighty-five dB it can cause hearing loss. People that have hearing loss are not deaf they still have some hearing. When they have hearing loss they need to go to the ear doctor, so they can see if they have permanent hearing loss. The doctors are going to need to run some tests to see why you are experiencing hearing loss. He/she is going to tell you if you have conductive hearing loss or sensorineural hearing loss or mixed hearing loss.
Conductive hearing loss is the sound pass through the outer ear or the middle ear and sensorineural hearing loss is damage of the inner ear and/or the nerve that is connected to the brain. Mixed hearing loss is when the person has conductive hearing loss and sensorineural hearing loss and it affects the other or middle ear and also the inner ear. Now when you are out in public, at school or at home you might not be able to hear the noise around you. There are going to be times when you are going to need them to repeat things that you cannot hear and it going to start to frustrate you.
Hearing loss might be permanent and can affect on your everyday life. When you having hearing loss you will not be able to hear high pitch sounds like a sound of a woman or a child. People that have hearing loss cannot hear the consonants like T, S, F. Aging, what is it? Aging can cause hearing loss because your ears start to get weak after all the different sound that you hear every day. When you are aging the follicles(hairs in the ear) might been damaged or have died, then it starts to get hard to pick up the sounds waves and the hairs don’t grow back.
Hearing loss due to aging can be passed on by genes that your parents had and you can also pass it on to your kids in the future. When you become older you start to use the same words over and over again like “can you repeat that” or “what” these words are going to be use for the rest of the time while you are alive. Most people started to lose their hearing loss at the age of sixty-five. Aging affects everyone when they get older for some people it is mild and for other it is profound. One-third of Americans, between the age of sixty-five and seventy-four have hearing loss.
If they are seventy-five or older, more than half of those people have difficulty hearing. Seventy-four million people, about twenty percent of the Americans, have some degree of hearing loss that they reported. Sixty percent of people are either in the education environment or in the workforce. Fifteen percent are kids with hearing loss are between six to nineteen. The older we get the harder it’s for us to hear so we need to take care of our ears and make sure that we do not harm them. The older we get the weaker the follicles and the weaker they get the less we hear.
The follicles in our ears get weaker when we get older they will start to be sensitive to the the noise around and when they become damage they will not grow back. How does hereditary deal with hearing loss. Hereditary deals with hearing loss because they can be past down from your parents. When you are born they will tell your parents if you are a hearing or deaf baby. If you are born deaf most likely got it from genetics that both parents have that trait.
If both parent are hearing and you are deaf most likely you got it from their recessive. Genes that your parents have you e you will have half of those from each parent and when there are two recessive trait they take over the dominant trait so you will have their recessive trait not their dominant trait. Hereditary hearing can be sensorineural, conductive, or it can be both sensorineural and conductive. Hearing loss can be a genetic form that can be distinguished from a non genetic. They can diagnosed by an examination using audiologic, family history, otologic, ancillary testing, and/or physical examination.
After, you get the results, you can read and find out why you are starting to not be able to hear. Most likely it is do to genetics hat were passed down to you and when you have kids you will give them that trait but it not a hundred percent that there are going to have hearing loss. There might be other parts of your family that have hearing loss and then they become deaf in the future and there is a chance that you will become deaf or be hard of hearing. Genetics are a major part in a human body if our body is missing a gene it cause a person to be deaf, blind, and other things. Hereditary can affect any parts of your family and also affects you and if you have the trait there is a chance that you will start to lose your hearing and become deaf.
Trauma is very serious and it can affect a person on their everyday life. Children in the deaf community are prone to more physical, neglect, emotional and/or sexual abuse when compared to those that are hearing. The abuse of a deaf child are often done in a bus, at home, or at a school. Statistics have shown that twenty-five percent of hearing girls are sexually abused, while fifty percent of deaf girls are affected. Ten percent of hearing boys are sexually abused, although fifty-four percent are deaf boys that were affected. Sexually abuse happen about four times more in an institutional setting than in the community.
Two percent of deaf people are needing support for their behavioral health issue and receive appropriate care. After a child has been abuse it is hard for them to feel safe again because they do not know who they can trust. There are a lot of disease that can cause hearing loss and it can cause you to have mild to profound hearing loss. The first disease is Glue ears is when you get fluid behind the middle ear and it can start to become an infection and cause you to lose your hearing. There are some treatments you can do to get the fluid out but you have to go see a doctor and they will give you some drops to get the fluid out.
Glue ear is short term is can last between four days to five weeks. Second disease is Otosclerosis. Otosclerosis is the ear not being able to amplify the sound waves in the ear. This is treatable but there is currently no cure for it. Otosclerosis can last for many years or it can be a lifetime. You cannot pass this on the other people so you can still go to work, school. It might be hard for you to understand what they are talk about because the sound wave are not about to pick up. You might need them to you a pen or pencil and write it down for you so you can understand what he/she is talking about.
The fourth one is meningitis. If you ever get a high fever, it can cause you to have some degree of hearing loss. Hearing loss from meningitis is caused by the follicles dying or the nerve died. If you overdose on medicine it can cause you to lose your hearing. The medicine that can cause hearing loss are Aspirin, Ibuprofen and/or Naproxen. Some medicine can make very sick and can cause you to have hearing loss. There has been some cases that they overdose on Aspirin and they loss their hearing and they never got their hearing back.
They had to learn sign languages so they could be able to talk to other people. Different medicine have different side affects on people. People can have mild hearing while other people can have profound hearing loss just cause they took the wrong medicine. People will overdose on the medicine and they say it is safe but it is not because some medicine can make lose your hearing forever. Tinnitus is a buzzing for a ringing in the ear or the head.
