America’s most recent election was won by candidate, Donald J. Trump, who offered a gracious acceptance speech as President Elect extending an invitation for the nation to join together in the spirit of unity and unconditional love by means of “Compassionate Conservatism,” which was coined by George W. Bush in 2002. 1 The recent election was a turning point in American history.
Our nation was slowly being changed from a Constitutional society to a totalitarian socialist regime. At the forefront of this election were “we the people” unalienable rights of free speech, religious liberty, protection from dangerous enemies (namely radical Islamists), immigration, and the right to bear arms. Kimberly Stassel said of Obama, “Few Presidents understand the power of speech better than Barack Obama, and even fewer the power of denying it to others. 2 A couple of his referendums are; (1) advocated for and repealed the military ‘Don’t ask, Don’t tell’ policy with no religious liberty implications or military chaplains and all service members of faith3 and (2) repealed Ronald Reagan’s ‘Mexico City Policy,’ which denied federal funding to organizations that perform abortions overseas.
In regard to religious liberty, Cardinal Raymond Burke stated, “[President Obama] wants to restrict the exercise of the freedom of religion to freedom of worship; that is, he holds that one is free to act according to his conscience within the confines of his place of worship but that , once the person leaves the place of worship, the government can constrain him to act against his rightly formed conscious , even in the most serious of moral questions. ”5 1. Over the past eight years’ progressive liberals have been working steadily to deny Americans their First Amendment Rights and religious freedom.
Although it had always been the right of a business owner to deny services, Christian based businesses have come under assault and have been faced with frivolous lawsuits. Even more disturbing is the threat to religious liberty in the military. In a “Clear and Present Danger,” The Family Research Council (FRC) has noted pressures to impose a secular, anti-religious culture on our nation’s military services have intensified tremendously during the Obama administration. 6
Captain Robert Dees, author of “Resilient Nations,” in his article Freedom of Speech is not Free, bridges the Bible, Resilient Nations, and the United States Constitution in reference to the question, “Do Christians have freedom of speech? ”7 He places emphasis on Christians to lead by example; ergo, a Christian should take the high road by using diplomacy when engaging in dialogue, blogging, or public speaking. Colossians 4:6 encourages us to season our communications with salt, making it palatable for the purpose of offering a gracious response.
It was notable on social media during the Presidential election that those who professed to love God would pivot to considerate, well thought out posts, despite ad hominem attacks by liberals. Christ made the ultimate sacrifice so that all those who wish to partake of His salvation become spiritually free. 8 “We the People,” in this election reminded the powers that be in Washington D. C. , that their responsibility is to be statesmen who “truly safeguard freedom must be selfless public servants, guardians of truth, and principled collaborators for change. 9
Our founders respected God’s Word and formulated the Constitution accordingly; thereby the government was created to serve the common person, not to rule with an iron fist and tyranny. 6. Our moral, spiritual infrastructure is in decline and confronting the truth without compromise is our only hope.
While I do believe that we can be kind to people we don’t agree with, how can we be tolerant (which also means to go along with) of those who blatantly oppose the Word of God? For too long now many Americans have become fearful of the Godless policies implemented by the Obama administration; ergo, many have given the appearance of being tolerant out of fear of the consequences that can be imposed? It is true, we cannot draw others to the faith by cruelty; however, Christians and real Jews are expected by the One Living and True God to maintain the faith, our core values which are the foundation America was built on.
Christians and real Jews are to respect authority as long as civil law is not in contradiction to God’s law (Romans 13:1-14). In this day and time tolerance has come to mean that we are to “accept” the ways of others whether we agree or not, with a double standard being applied. It is interesting to note that “conservative” is a synonym defining intolerance. The problem with tolerance as it is now meant is that it rejects the possibility that objective truth exists. The Bible is also clear regarding those who hide or distort the truth in the name of tolerance.
Romans 1:18 says whoever suppresses the truth will receive the wrath of God. While Christians and Jews can recognize the right of others to have dissimilar convictions, we cannot concede with their convictions or permit them to go unchallenged for one simple reason; ergo, it is not loving, and Jesus calls us to love (Luke 10:25-37). By allowing something that is “wrong” to happen and continue to happen by standing by silently is a transgression in itself.
Trump’s winning the election is confirmation that God heard the cries and prayers of the righteous and chose to give America another opportunity to return to “One Nation under God. Now that the Conservatives have the ball in their court; thereby, the retention of National History Traditions that have been under attack (e. g. , Christmas, the Pledge of Allegiance, the American Flag, Christianity, the traditional nuclear family, and The 2nd Amendment) can now be returned to their original status. Conservatives do respect the unalienable rights of all Americans and extend the philosophy of Compassionate Conservatism to the disenfranchised and the invisible majority.
Some examples of Compassionate Conservatism are; (1) free markets and limited government which is good for all people, particularly those in need,10 (2) promoted higher education access by fighting escalating tuition costs and relentless administrative bloat,11 (3) have worked assiduously to provide education for the children in poor and low-income inner-city families through voucher programs and charter schools,12 (4) the right seeks to rein in government taxing and spending, to direct government toward its constitutionally assigned tasks, to enlist wherever possible market mechanisms, and, by invigorating civil society, to foster the virtues of self-reliance,13 and (5) on just about every level of subjective comparison–whether donating money, volunteering time or even giving blood–it is the conservative–and particularly the religiously motivated conservative–not the liberal who put their money where their moral mouth is. 14
God has given America a reprieve and a President Elect who will surround himself with those who will implement his vision to support the promises he made to the people of America. Donald J. It’s time for us to come together as one united people, to help unify our great country.
Ours was not a campaign but rather an incredible and great movement … ix our inner cities, address infrastructure issues and “finally” support veterans. We expect to have great, great relationships with the rest of the world. We must reclaim our nation’s destiny, he said, noting that when it comes to relations with other nations, we will seek common ground, not hostility. After some number of years, “hopefully you’ll be so proud of your president – you’ll be so proud. I. Love. This. Country.
15 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens (NIV, Ecclesiastes 3:1). Now Conservatives can lovingly teach the nation respect for the privileges Americans often take for granted. “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 5: 14-16). 15.
