Evolution Vs Religion

For hundreds of years, the controversy of how the earth was created has been a hot topic among people of all beliefs. Do you have an opinion about how the earth was created? Hopefully, giving all of the information stated in this paper, you will firmly believe that God created the earth. The Bible says in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth (To, A. God-Centered Approach). Science says that the earth was created by a massive explosion of light and energy, some scientists also call it the “Big Bang Theory” (“Did God Create the Universe? ).

According to the Bible, God made us, we did not make ourselves. According to science, there was a hydrogen atom that steadily grew over many centuries, and man developed. The Bible says that God formed fruit trees before fish, however evolution says that fish originated before fruit trees. Evolution declares that the earth commenced as a boiling melted blob, whereas the Bible declares that earth was first generated covered with water. The “Big Bang,” an explosion of light and energy, is said to have happened roughly twenty billion years ago.

Because of this explosion, the sun clearly came first, and then the earth formed in an unknown, random way. On the other hand, the Bible says that the earth was created on day one of the six days of creation, and the sun was not created until day four (“Contents. “). There are two different beliefs of how old the earth actually is. There is the “young earth,” and also the “old earth. ” The young earth, which is a biblical belief, believes that God created the heavens and the earth in approximately 144 hours (six twenty-four hour days).

On the seventh day, God discounted the routine of creation. “Young earth believers” believe that God invented the heavens and the earth somewhere between 6,000 and 12,000 years ago. On the other hand, the old earth believers says that the universe came into presence 13. 7 billion years ago, and the earth was molded 4. 5 billion years ago, after the Big Bang. Old earth believers believe the earth was created from nothing. They believe that Adam was created from dust and Eve from one of Adams ribs.

They do however reject Darwin’s Theory of Evolution (“What Is Old Earth Creationism? ). Scientists have been doing research for many years with intentions of proving the evolution theory. They have come across fossils that seem to be billions of years old. However, scientists will also agree that there was a catastrophic event in history, such as a flood, which is the reason these fossils look so old, when they could possibly only be about 6,000 years old. Genesis 7:11-24: “The flood continued forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bore up the ark, and it rose high above the earth.

The waters prevailed and increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark floated on the face of the waters. And the waters prevailed so mightily upon the earth that all the high mountains under the whole heaven were covered; the waters prevailed above the mountains, covering them fifteen cubits (around 22 feet) deep” (ldolphin. org). How was life created? According to the Bible, on the first day, God created light and separated it from the darkness, calling light “daytime,” and darkness “nighttime. ” On the second day of creation, God created a spread to separate the waters and called it “sky. On the third day, God created the dry ground and assembled the waters, calling the dry ground “land,” and the assembled waters “seas. ”

God as well created vegetation on the third day (plants and trees). On day four of creation, God created the sun, moon, and the stars to give light to the earth and to oversee and distinguish the day and the night. On the fifth day, God created each living creature of the seas and every winged bird, dedicating them to reproduce and fill the waters and the sky with life. On the final day of creation, God created animals to roam the earth.

God also created a man and woman, named Adam and Eve, in his own image to communicate with him. He dedicated them and gave them every creature and the entire earth to rule over, care for, and develop. On the seventh day, God completed his work of creation, so he took a break on the seventh day of creation, blessing it and making it holy. (chrisianity. about. com) The Bible says that God shaped man of dust from the ground, and exhaled into his nostrils the breath of life, and man then became a living being (biblehub. com). Charles Darwin’s evolutionary theory contradicts how life began here on earth.

Evolution is the change that happens in a population over time. In this case, a “population” is an assembly of the same species that share a precise place and habitat. The myth of human evolution originated in Africa about six million years ago. It is the thought that our ancestors went through a process and eventually formed into humans. (factmonster. com) Natural selection can vary species’ in different ways, forcing a population to change color or size over the progression of several generations. This is otherwise known as “microevolution.

Natural selection can create an entirely new species, called “macroevolution. ” Macroevolution is able to turn dinosaurs into birds, amphibious mammals into whales, and the big one, apes into humans (Than). Evolution is a very tenacious myth. An ape is a group of primates that include the gorilla, orangutan, and the chimpanzee. Evolutionists will say that humans must be descended straight from apes. They believe that apes somehow changed, phase by phase, into humans (science. howstuffworks. com).

Some scientists have found that roughly 98. % of the genetic factor in humans and apes are almost undistinguishable. This means that apes are the closest existing biological relations to humans. A great majority of scientists believe that our common ancestor lived between 5 and 8 million years ago, which is when the evolution theory came about in Africa. (factmonster. com) Stephen Hawking, a physicist quotes, “Some people would use the term evolution only for the internally transmitted genetic material, and would object to it being applied to information handed down externally. But I think that is too narrow a view.

We are more than just our genes” (“The Daily Galaxy –Great Discoveries Channel: Sci, Space, Tech. “). Was there a creator or not? The evolution myth argument starts with the rejection to admit bias. Proverbs 1:7: The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and introduction. If there is a creator, (God), then all of mankind is accountable to Him and praised by Him. However, if there is not a creator, (evolution), then all of our lives are unsystematic likelihoods and our only value is what we control (“Creation vs.

Evolution – What Does the Bible Say? “). This brings the big question, if there was no creator, and we evolved from apes, where did these apes come from? Did they just randomly appear on earth? The evolutionary theory clearly states that all of man originated as ancestors from apes. However, when scientists are frequently asked the question, “where did apes come from? ” they change their story to something like “humans did not evolve from monkeys, they are more related to modern apes than to monkeys, but humans did not evolve from apes.

Humans share a common predecessor with current African apes, like gorillas and chimpanzees” (pbs. org). There is no other possible logical explanation as to how mankind was created other than God. Apes did not magically form and turn into humans. On day six, God produced the animals to roam the earth, and then he created man and woman. In conclusion, you can see that the controversy between creation and evolution is still ongoing, and will probably continue until the end of time.

In 2014, approximately 42% of the United States population believed in creation, and that there is no other alternative to how the universe was created. One in three Americans do not believe in evolution. On the other hand, six-in-ten Americans believe that “humans and additional breathing things” have grown over time. Roughly half of those people said that natural selection, (evolution) not God, is how life became about. Stephen Hawking, who is an atheist, fully believes that God is not real and the earth was created by the Big Bang Theory.

Hawking’s theory influences a lot of people and causes them to believe in evolution and the Big Bang. Not because it was originally their opinion, but because he is a well-known scientist and he believes in evolution and has the ability to convince people of his beliefs. Ultimately, to me, it seems the only logical explanation to how the earth was created is the one and only God. It is not only because I am a Christian, it is because I cannot seem to wrap my head across the fact that a huge light of energy randomly exploded one day, millions of years ago, when there was no life here to prove it.

No one can necessarily prove the existence of God either, but there are many historians, as in the Bible that talk about when God was here, and more importantly how He created the earth, and man. A study shows that 25% of people do not believe in God (christianpost. com). Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. There are many firm believers in evolution as well as creation. However, if someone isn’t quite sure on what they believe, why not believe in creation? Atheism has turned into antitheism for those refusing to believe in a Living God. But how do you believe that an explosion evolved into mankind?

If you aren’t sure what to believe, believe in God and everything He created. It is better to be safe than sorry and live your life the right way instead to believe in something false and to take the risk of living your eternal life in hell. There is more proven fact that God existed and created the earth rather than a random burst of heat exploded and then the earth was made. The Theory of Evolution takes away the option to believe in God. The bottom line is that believing in evolution or God comes down to philosophy. Science does not answer every question. Faith is believing and trusting in God.
