Dad’s Sixth Sense Commercial Analysis Essay

The dad’s sixth sense commercial was aired during the first quarter of the 2014 Super Bowl. A father’s power to keep his child secure from any danger gets the Super Bowl’s audience in an emotional uproar during the super cute commercial for Hyundai. Knowing that fathers watch the super bowl with their sons, Hyundai created a commercial that convinces the audience to purchase the all new 2015 Hyundai Genesis because the car is just as protective as a father.

The “Dad’s Sixth Sense” commercial starts off with a small little boy who comes running around the corner, trips, and almost hits his head on a flower bed made of bricks. Luckily, a man is standing by, reading what looks to be the mail, so as soon as he saw this young child, he quickly drops his mail and snaches the child up. The audience soon realizes that the small child is the man’s son.

Throughout this thirty one second commercial the boy grows into a young man, who always seems to get into some sort of predicament. Each time the boy gets into trouble, the father comes running to save the day. He keeps the boy from getting hurt over, and over again until one day he just can’t anymore, because his son his fleeing from his nest. Now that the young man is learning how to drive, it’s the all-new 2015 Hyundai Genesis that steps right in with its new automatic emergency brakes.

In This 2014 Super Bowl commercial pathos is shared throughout the whole commercial in many ways, but one specific way pathos is displayed is by a father’s sixth sense, meaning the father’s intuition, with the help of a song called “Count On Me” by Bruno Mars. Now, one may wonder why this song by Bruno Mars is so important in this situation. This song is supportive to this commercial, because it fits in all of the mishaps happening to the son, and the father does exactly what the song says.

“Count On Me” is a completely addictive, catchy, and a well-known tune. I find myself singing “you can count on me like one, two, three and I’ll be there” each and every time the commercial plays. Listening to this song play in the background of the commercial makes me feel emotionally attached to the son and his father. Bruno Mars highlights the all new Hyundai Genesis by singing this song, as the “Dad’s Sixth Sense” commercial is being played. The song lets us know that one can rely on the 2015 Hyundai Genesis, just like we can rely on our fathers.

Exactly why it is important that this commercial was aired during the Super Bowl, you might ask? Hyundai, along with many other car companies, knows that many father-son bonds begin with football, or just sitting together watching television. Knowing that parents want nothing more than for their children to be safe, the “Dad’s Sixth Sense” commercial convinces fathers, and/or mothers that their child needs the Automatic brake system in his or her vehicle.

As the commercial comes to an end the small boy is now becoming a young handsome man, who is just now getting on the path of driving. Like most young men he is attracted to females. Specifically, long haired blondes. His father is sitting in the passenger seat of the new 2015 Hyundai Genesis. As the young man and his father are driving along, the son catches a glimpse of a beautiful blond. He can’t take his eyes off of her. He gets distracted and takes his eyes off of the road. This is when the father can not save the day any longer.

The job is now out of his hands, and he can not control the automobile for his son. The young man is about to rear end his brand new car into a stopped vehicle in front of him. Now, the automatic braking system steps right in and starts taking place of the boy’s father. The audience can tell that the young man is scared when the automatic emergency brakes step in, he looks over at his father with an anxious look, “the I’m sorry look”. The father has the look of disappointment, but he is relieved that the car’s automatic brake system has kept his son safe.
