The heartbeat of the unborn child begins 21 days after conception and a child born as early as 20 weeks after conception has a good chance of survival (Nilsson).
My sister is a mother of two children, and as I tended every doctor’s appointment with her, I experienced the stages of growth in the womb. At five weeks, we could see and hear the baby’s heartbeat on the ultrasound. At only eight weeks, the baby may only be the size of a bean, but it is constantly moving, and its fingers are beginning to form and it can properly move all of the joints in the arms and legs. The unborn baby’s heart starts beating at 20 days and the brain gives off brainwaves at 40 days. If these factors are used by the law to determine death, why can’t they be used to determine life?

Abortion Is very dangerous and many mothers don’t research the complications before getting the procedure. According to the CDC, the leading causes of abortion related deaths are hemorrhage, infection, embolism, anesthesia, and undiagnosed octopi pregnancies. Legal abortion is reported as the fifth leading cause of maternal death in the united States. For women aborting a first and is multiplied with two or more abortions (Department of Health and Hospitals). In 2008, 12 women died as a result of complications from known legal induced abortion.

An adult swimming to shore from a capsized boat has a much greater chance of survival if he doesn’t try to save a child. But does that mean he shouldn’t?
