Can you make an egg bounce? Well the answer is yes, you make an egg bounce by using just a few steps. You can make this even more fun by doing this with a couple of friends. First you will need an egg. Then get a bowl. Also you will need vinegar. After you have all those here is what you will need to do. Boil the egg or eggs that you have. After you boil the egg let it set for at least an hour. Then set the egg in a bowl. When you have all that done just put vinegar in the bowl with the hard boiled egg ( How to make a bouncy egg).
After letting the hard boiled egg set in the vinegar for three days take it out and let it set on a paper towel for a couple of minutes. After letting it set on the paper towel take the egg and set it under cold water to rinse off the remainings of the outside shell of the egg. If all the shell does not rinse off put the egg back in the vinegar for at least one more day. After that one more day take the egg out of the vinegar again and try to rinse off the rest of the shell like before. Then you have yourself a bouncy egg (How to make a bouncy egg). The egg should then swell up from this.
The egg swells up because the concentration of the liquid inside. Did you know that you do not have to have a boiled egg to make it bounce? If you do not boil the egg it just has to set in the vinegar longer. If the egg is not boiled it should set in the vinegar for at least four days. After setting in the vinegar for four days take the egg out of the bowl of vinegar. Then let it set on a paper towel for a couple of minutes. After you do that try to rinse the shell of off the egg (K. Nancy). If it does not rinse off all the way let the egg set in the vinegar for either a hour or a couple of hours.
After that take the egg out again and rinse the remainings of the shell off. Then you have a bouncy egg that was not hard boiled, and if the egg does not hold that well, use stronger vinegar. When you put the egg in the bowl with vinegar after a while there will be small bubbles around the egg. The bubbles will grow bigger as the time gets longer that the egg is in the bowl. Sometimes the egg will start to float to the top of the bowl or jar that you are using. The eggs will change colors too (K. Nancy). The colors will change from a brown color to a light brown kinda close to white color.
When the egg starts to change in color it means that the egg shell is dissolving. Sometimes the egg will expand as the egg sets in the bowl of vinegar for a long time. When the egg is in the jar or bowl of vinegar the outside of the egg which is the shell will start to come off a little. This experiment actually shows the process of osmosis. Osmosis is the movement of liquid from a solution of lower concentration to a more concentrated solution through a semi-solution substance. Permeable means fluid or gases are able to pass through the material (K. Nacy).
