How Does Princess Diana Affect The World Essay

The effect of a woman’s life on a country does not happen often. When Lady Diana became Princess of Wales, the whole country was affected by it. Princess Diana impacted the world through her royal marriage, her generous charities, and her sudden death Lady Diana Frances Spencer was born July 1, 1961 at Park House near Sandringham, Norfolk. She had two older sisters and a younger brother. Her parents, who had married in 1954, separated in 1967. Diana continued to live with her father after the divorce until the death of her grandfather.

Lady Diana ent to a preparatory school and then went to a boarding school. She never finished school. Princess Diana became Queen of Wales on July 29, 1981. The announcement of her engagement to Prince Charles was on February 24,1981. Being neighbors until 1975, their families had known each other for many years, and Lady Diana and The Prince had met again when he was invited to a weekend at Althorp. The two were married at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. Around 100 million people tuned in to the television to watch the wedding ceremony. Their wedding was known as the “wedding of the century”.

She was the first Englishwoman to marry an heir to the throne for 300 years. Publicly, Princess Diana became the world’s number one cover girl in 1983. “It took me a long time to understand why people were so interested in her, but she assumed it was because her husband had done a lot wonderful work leading up to their marriage and their relationship” (Princess Diana). the happiest couple in the world. Princess Diana wanted to share the role of being leaders of a country, but did not realize The royal couple seemed to be she would do a lot of it alone.

She wanted to be with Charles a ot of the time, but could not. Their lack of togetherness showed the couples unhappiness. During this time of separation, Diana came to find out about Charles’ affair. He had been having an affair with Camilla Parker Bowles. The two met at a polo match earlier in life, but Camilla decided to get married. Two years after Diana’s death, Charles and Camilla are seen together in public for the first time. In 2005, the two Are engaged and said to be married that April. Some say Charles never really loved Diana, and if he did then his meaning of love was different than thers.

In May of 1986 the princess fainted during a visit to the exhibition in Vancouver, Canada. (Owen, 27) When taken to the hospital, she found out she was suffering from the eating disorder bulimia nervosa- a complaint often caused by stress. “You inflict it upon yourself because your self esteem is at a low ebb, and you don’t think you’re worthy or valuable. You fill your stomach up four or five times a day, and it gives you a feeling of comfort. Then you’re disgusted at the bloatedness of your stomach, and then you bring it back up again” (Princess Diana).

Many assume her disorder came from the stress of her marriage. The couple’s separation was announced in December of 1992 by British Prime Minister John Major. On August 28th, During Princess Diana’s marriage, she had two sons. Prince William was born June 21, 1982 and Prince Henry was born September 15, 1984, and they were the lights of her life. After her pregnancy with William, Diana had post-natal depression. Growing up, her mother wasn’t in her life that much, so she wanted her children 1996 Prince Charles and Diana divorced. not to feel the ways he did growing up.

She had a very close relationship with her sons, and had a clear idea of how she wanted them to grow up. (Owen, 48) During her troubling marriage, Princess Diana leaned on her son William, telling him everything that was going on in her life. She did not want to burden him with her problems, but she wanted to inform him about what all was going on (Owen, 57). Princess Diana took her sons everywhere as they grew up. They had a very adventurous life, but always knew their parents were not on the best of Diana’s depression continued after her pregnancy and affected her family.

She felt like no one would listen to her and had a pain inside of her that she wanted to hurt herself on the outside because she wanted help. She was crying out for help because she wanted to get better. Princess Diana suffered from injuring herself on her arms and legs, she did not like herself. She was ashamed because she could not deal with the pressure. When she became better, she worked with women who were terms. either going through the same thing, or had already gone through it. When her husband found out about her depression and suffering he didn’t understand what was behind her hysical act of self harm. her charity work.

During her marriage, the princess was president or patron of over 100 charities. A lot of her publicize work was on behalf of homeless and disabled children, and Princess Diana was best known for people with HIV/Aids. After her divorce she remained head of many organizations: The Centrepoint (a homeless charity), The English National Ballet, The Leprosy Mission and National Aids Trust, and the president of the Hospital for Sick Children, Great Ormond Street and of the Royal Marsden Hospital (Biography Online). Princess Diana felt she needed to help those in need, especially since she had some authority to do so.

Growing up, Princess Diana gave help to her school and class mates. Before becoming Princess, Diana looked after an American couple’s child and worked as a kindergarten teacher. Princess Diana is known to be a warm and genuine person. She showed interest in peoples’ situations and difficulties. When she became involved in a charity, it became very personal to her. She was able to make every person she met feel special and loved. “Princess Diana realized the power of her role in the eyes’ of the ublic and used that realization to change attitudes to the issues of the day” (Humanitarian).

She is remembered for not being scared to speak her mind and was not afraid of what When Princess Diana was others would think of her work. pronounced dead after a horrible car accident, lives were changed. Princess Diana died August 31, 1997, at the age of 36. “Suicide rates rose, particularly among women of similar age to Diana, more people self harmed in the week after her death and some declared themselves to have mourned more for a Princess they have never met than their own parents” (Marie Jackson). People could easily relate to Princess Diana. She was a ‘feeling’ person.

No one expected the people’s princess to die so young and so suddenly. Newspapers say the streets were stained with tears. The entire country, and a lot of the world was effected by her passing. “The death of the Princess of Wales fills us all with shock and deep grief” says British Ambassador Michael Jay. There is no exact clarification of how the wreck occurred, but some witnesses say the Princess’ car was being followed by five or so photographers on motorcycles. Wrecked otorcycles were taken from the accident, but the police could not identify the owners.

Princess Diana suffered from cardiac arrest and severe internal bleeding, and could not be revived. Many rumors were spread that Princess Diana was pregnant with her boyfriend, Dodi Fayed, child. Some even believe the whole accident was planned. not only affected the country of Wales, but also it affected the Princess Diana’s life and death whole world. She was a role model to more than women her age, but also to young teenagers and older adults. Her marriage, charity, and death changed the world for better and worse.
