According to an unknown source, “Fear is a feeling you can get over”. This means it is just an excuse or a burden to not follow your goals and your dreams. Fear can be an internal weight on our shoulders to prevent you from taking chances and living your life. In January 20, 1961, John Kennedy was elected the thirty-third president of the United of the States on that day he presented a speech about the outbreak of the civil rights movement and the hatred in society.
Today J. F. K’S speech inspired Americans to defend freedom and democracy, due to that he motivated the citizens to prevent the idea of fear and ways to make changes in our society. In this world we have negative events on a daily bases such as: war, diseases, even death sometimes all of those taunting things are portrayed in the media. The news and social media as a society, we cannot help being scared of the unknown. This is called national fear which means when a nation is threatened about a cause.
In the Inaugural Address, John Kennedy was facing an issue for citizens to fight for people’s rights and for people to be treated with respect no matter what race or gender. Civil rights figureheads had courage and made sacrifices for a better a world today therefore, the purpose of fear motivate others to have courage and take risk. The speaker states, “The world is very different now. For man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life”“.
The speaker refers to the world is a different place now which means the citizens should have the right to make a difference to change the society. The saying action speaks louder than words well; those actions of bravery are honored in history and made history books as well. For example in the 1960s in the civil rights movement Martin Luther King Jr. is a man that a nation looks up to for having courage and for fighting for injustice. He believed that all men and women should be equal and also believed that the citizens should have the power to have a voice on their own rights.
The way he got his point across is by having non-violent protest, and speaking to the people about his opinion from his speeches. Everybody, everywhere, was influenced by his teaching if people like: Rosa Parks and Malcolm X. All of the courageous of role model’s seemed fearless but they were afraid at the same time so they put their doubts aside and made history. As a matter of fact, if they did not take matters into their own hands and listen to their fear, therefore there would probably be no black president today and woman would not vote.
As a result, the idea of bravery is well recognized not only in past but the present from the news, social media, and other inspirational sources. Local fear is like an emotional weight that leans over people’s heads because they do not have control over what’s going on . People have fear of not having basics of life and we also have fear of having not good health, as a result of being afraid of death. The reader is told, “Let both sides invoke the wonders of science instead of its terrors.
Together let us explore the stars, conquer the deserts, eradicate disease, tap the ocean depths and encourage the arts and commerce”. The quote is implying that the nation and our allies should focus on the solution of the problem instead blaming who or what caused it. Health scares and running out of food is not always something that we consider as a nation to happen but it does to multiple people even if we did not even realize. Medicine can be a solution to help prevent from emotional stress.
People do not sweat the issue of diseases as much even though they do not know the outcome because they believe. It is a for sure thing because it is facts that is backed up by recommended sources either friends, trusted sources, doctors and pharmacist. Another example to help prevent food shortage is by the community uniting and taking matters into their own hands. The way the community can give back is by donating food to their local food banks. Actions cannot make others fearful because they know they have the power to make this world a better place so they feel more fearless instead of fearful.
Finally, Fear is an emotion mostly out of care. It is portrayed in current real life situations today like: veterans, homeless people, and people with diseases. In conclusion, John’s speech encouraged the nation to not give up no matter what doubts they have and to turn their weakness’s into their strengths. Past and future fear is yet upon us in today’s culture. The activities of war, terrorism, and people’s actions dangerous actions will never stop unless are nation’s sticks together and support on another.
