How would you feel if someone had the final say in whether or not you could live or die? Imagine not having any say in whether or not you are allowed to have a life. Now you can imagine how a baby feels since they do not have a choice in their mother’s womb. If a woman decides to abort her baby, the baby cannot do anything about their life being forcibly taken away from them. Their whole future is demolished in a single instant before it even begins. This is why I believe abortion is wrong no matter the reasoning behind why you’re doing it.
The first reason as to why abortion is wrong is because there are many other safer solutions. It is stated that “In the USA, there are approximately two million infertile couples waiting to adopt, many times regardless of the child’s medical problems such as Down Syndrome, Spinal Biffed, HIVE infection or terminally ill. Dry. Brad Miler, President of America’s Pregnancy Helpline, confirms the challenge of waiting couples by stating: Only 1% of the Helping’s annual 40,000 clients inquires about adoption” (Brown).
Therefore putting him/her up for adoption will give the baby a better chance at a happier life rather Han if he/she had been aborted. The solution for a baby should not be death, there are other ways to (for lack of a better term) get rid of the unborn child. The next reason why I am against supporting abortion is because it can also harm the mother. When a mother goes in for an abortion she is entering a high risk circumstance. Not only does it have an effect here in the United States, but it affects other countries as well like Spain.
According a member of the Right to Life Committee: “Sixty five percent of women who abort suffer symptoms of post-traumatic stress syndrome after undergoing the procedure” ( (Gomez-Alvin). Many women around the world end up regretting the choice after deciding to take it, therefore making it a controversial issue. Abortion can also result into not being able to get pregnant in the future, many sicknesses and even death. Abortion affects both the baby and the mom in very serious, dangerous, and physical ways. Out of the many reasons why abortion is wrong, is that it is considered brutal murder.
In 1982, Ronald Reagan stated: “Simple morality dictates that unless and until someone can prove the unborn human is not live, we must give it the benefit of the doubt and assume it is (alive). And, thus, it should be entitled to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” (Unknown). You are taking a life and killing a human being. The baby is alive and not Just some ‘group of cells’ as abortion doctors call them. You are painfully putting a human being to death. It is wrong to think someone has the power to end a life so harmfully.
That is something that most criminals do not even have to suffer through. Are we (as human beings) really so stubborn and idiotic to evolve the death sentence so that rapist and orders do not feel pain when they die all because they are alive, yet when it comes to an unborn human it suddenly no longer matters? Thomas Jefferson stated the most fundamental principle of our developing nation when he wrote in the nation’s first document, the Declaration of Independence, that we were all created equal and endowed with certain unalienable rights and that among these rights was life.
Who should be able to take that right away simply because someone made a mistake and does not want to pay the consequences for their actions? The people who are pro- hospice more than likely have their reasons to be so. They believe it’s a women’s body, her choice. So she should be able to decide whether or not she wants the fetus. This I can comprehend, but can it seriously be so simple as someone’s choice to kill a human? Once you are pregnant, life has already started. The opposing side believes that in the first few weeks of pregnancy, there is no human life, this is no correct. The baby begins life in the first week.
Another reason people support abortion rights is for certain extenuating circumstances. Examples of these would be rape, teen regnant, or a sickness the mother may have. I think that with these reasons, I could see how it would almost be okay to abort the baby. The pro-choice believe this due to the fact of not harming the baby from your sickness, but another option is adoption. This way the baby will still have the chance to have a life. For teen pregnancies, there are some religious beliefs as to where you shouldn’t have premarital sex. If you do not want a child, you should not have sex at a young age because it’s not always safe.
Also, abortions can result into a risk of getting ill, physical damage, stopping you from avian a child again and/or even death. Not only will the baby die, but the mother has the possibility of dying as well. One last reason for the side that agrees with abortion is that they believe outlawing it, would be discrimination. Women with a lower income can lead them to into participating in an illegal abortion or a ‘black- market’ abortion. Getting an abortion illegally can cause much more harm to the mother and baby than giving birth. I believe that it is not worth risking the lives of you and your child Just for this surgery.
Abortion due to narcissistic reasons should be wrong no matter what. There are many other things you can do to prevent abortion. There are reasons why I don’t support it. You can use adoption as a solution, this does not harm (or has the possibility of harming) the mother less than abortion, and you are not taking an innocent life. In my opinion abortions should not be tolerated by any person regardless of your moral ethics. If a person is thoughtless enough to have intercourse with another person (to whom they are not married to) without any form of protection, then they would stand up and face the mistake of the child that will be born.
If they are not able to care for the child there is another course of action that they can take that does not involve killing a premature human that has a heartbeat. It is as simple as giving the baby up for adoption, and yes while this may cause the child some issues in his/her youth (whether it be bulling or something psychological) it will be better for the child than if he/her were to have a mom and/or a dad that is either unfit or unprepared to handle the complications of raising a child.
