OK! USA magazine is a British weekly magazine, specializing in the latest celebrity gossip and news. Ok! published in 1993, and its popularity grew not only in England, but also in U. S. A, Indian, Spanish and Bulgarian. OK! magazine is now the world’s biggest celebrity lifestyle magazine, with over 30 million readers worldwide. (elliepg321. wordpress). OK! USA Magazine is a magazine for female, using lots of rhetorical appeals and hook people’s attention by its cover. OK! USA Magazine targeted on women, teenagers who is on their twenties and thirties.

In page 14, “Star style showdown”, there is comparison between two celebrities how they wore dress. Women are only care about style, fashion, and beauty. Knowing what their audience want, the magazine contain all kind of these things, and their examples are female celebrities. Women loves to know about star’s gossip, OK! Providing all the information women want to know, and curious about. For example in page 4, with title “Sandra FINDS LOVE”, it is reveals her new lover after 5 years being alone, and get cheated from her old husband.

Women curious how she met new guy, and ow he is reliable, helps her finding trust and love again. Women usually put their life in that person’s role, and somehow relative their experienced with a star’s story. One more example to provide this is for women magazine is in page 54, “OK! STYLE WEEK, it is have accessories, dress, and sunglass only for women. Therefore, OK! magazine is the magazine for women. In order to catch audience’s attention, the cover is the most important thing. Ok! magazine issue number 38, published in September 21, 2015 have shocking title news: William & Kate KING & QUEEN!.

King and queen are capitalized with big font yellow color. It is the title hit people’s eyes first. The exclamation mark make an effect of how shocking the news is. On the cover, photo of Prince William and Princess Kate cover most of the page, even the magazine name. But because OK! magazine is popular, people still can recognize it. By using the picture of Prince William and Princess Kate, it is show people who the title talking about. Both of them are famous, and almost people known about them, that’s why audience will lay their attentions to the magazine.

The audience also known they are just a prince and princess, now changing call them King and queen, audience is predicting something happen. Next to the title news, have a golden marked with words “Palace confirm” in order to let people trusting this news. Below KING & QUEEN! , there is a box of dark pink color, inside have a sentence ‘Queen Elizabeth giving throne after 63 years’ with white fonts. Picture of Queen Elizabeth next to it. Underneath the magazine, two pink star marked at very bottom of the cover. Not only one news can leading people to buy entire magazine, that’s why Ok! put some different news categories in the cover, so people want to buy it more.

In the top right corner, there are picture of 3 celebrities known as Portia, Kim, and Jess. The category of this is ‘Celeb body Confessions! the word ‘confessions’ is in yellow font with pink underline to highlight the title news. It provide a shocking quotes from 3 celebrities like “I didn’t eat for 10 days”, “I sleep in Spanx”, and “I don’t brush my teeth. ” These all the weird things, and people after reading it immediately want to flip the pages to find this article, and know more about it. Going down to the right side, its cover have about 2 couples’ news.

The important thing to catch people’s attention is based on the title. For example, the first couple is Ben and Sienna Miller, with title The truth about those rumors. ” With the audience who already know their rumors, audience will want to find out what is the truth. And for of people who doesn’t know, they still want to know what is going on about this the word ‘truth’, it should arouse curiosity of people. People tends to like knowing the truth, and the meaning behind something.

After look the cover into a different section, when look at it with a whole page, OK! Magazine’s cover pretty organize. It’s left a space in right side to put other news, after having the picture of Prince William and Princess Kate cover most of the page. Most of its titles are capitalized and easy to read, with different colors. Therefore, the main cover is the most ple. With important thing in order to hook audience’s attention and whether want to buy it or not. OK! USA magazine using lots of rhetorical appeals to persuade audience. There is 4 of it: pathos, logos, ethos, and kairos. For the ethos, OK! magazine is well known and popular magazine that people can trust on.

Also in most of its article, always have n insider quote to proving what the article writing about is right. For example in page 21, in new couple category, with title “Jake and Charlize secretly dating! ” There have an eyewitness, and the couple also confirm that news. Also in just one article, it’s contain pathos and kairos as well. People will feel happy for them, and congratulates them. And it is happen after Charlize just ended up relationship with Sean Penn. OK! Magazine mostly using pathos for most of its articles. In article Ben and Sienna Miller with title “The truth about those rumors. people will curious what is the truth.

And in the news about break up and make up story, audience whether be happy for new couple, or they feel sorry for the couple they loved, but now is break up. It is first make people have emotional, and it will leave a marked inside their mind, not easily to forget. OK! magazine usually not using lots of logos, but kairos is also important. Appealing the article in the right time will make audience want to read that. The article about Prince William and Princess Kate will get more attention to people because they both popular, and people want to know what is happen to them.

They are a hot topic to discuss with, and whenever there is a news about them, people wants to be a first person to read it. OK! USA magazine uses lots of rhetorical appeals in order to convince the audience to buy magazine and pay more attention to it. Lastly, OK! Magazine is popular female magazine. It is have all the information women want to know like fashion style, gossips, star’s life. It is convey lots of emotions, rhetorical appeals in each article, and the magazine. By organized, posted any important news, quotes in the main cover, it is hooking and arouse curiosity of the audience.
