All Were there any injury phases on the people who survived the Atomic Bomb horrific? The injury phases on the people in Hiroshima and Nagasaki who survived The Atomic Bomb were horrific because most people were instantly vaporized or had the high risk of Cancers,Blood Disorders, and Tumors. There were also risks of being badly burnt and having skin injuries that caused life long disorders to the body. The Atomic Bomb was so powerful that it caused more than 7 decades of death and agony to the people of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and it still goes on today.
Imagine having to be a victim of extreme radiation exposure and suffering injuries that caused you to look mutated. Morgana During The Atomic Bomb blood disorders were one of the many injuries that occurred on the people of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The types of blood disorders were anemia ,hemophilia and leukemia. Anemia is a type of blood disorder that occurs when you don’t have enough healthy blood cells to bring oxygen to all tissues in your body , in the text states “Anemia is the most common blood disorder, and according to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, it affects more than 3 million Americans.
This proves That anemia has killed many americans due to the cause of how it affected blood cells. Anemia is caused by less blood. Hemophilia is another blood disorder which is not common in which your blood doesn’t stick together easily and dont have the ability to stick together. In the text it states “ Hemophilia is a rare disorder in which your blood doesn’t clot normally because it lacks sufficient blood-clotting proteins (clotting factors). ” This proves it’s one of the disorders which you barely get it because it’s rare also if you bleed your injury will heal slower.
Leukemia is another blood disorder it is a cancer of the blood cells. In the text it states “Leukemia is cancer of the body’s blood-forming tissues, including the bone marrow and the lymphatic system”. This proves that it’s a common disease. Carlos During the dropping of the Atomic Bomb many people were exposed to radiation that came from the bomb that caused many cancers. The most common cases of Cancers were Breast Cancer, Melanoma, and Lung Cancer. Breast Cancer was one of the common cases of cancer that mostly occurred to women.
The amount of radiation exposure and depending on the age of the women it would determine how severe their breast cancer was. The amount of exposure from radiation due to The Atomic Bomb caused women to have cells that began to produce rapidly which began to make the cancer begin. The symptoms of Breast Cancer are some kind of a lump on the breast or some kind of mishape on the nipple or breast. Melanoma was another type of cancer that was very common that affected the human’s skin. The Atomic Bomb caused lots of ultraviolet radiation to be exposed to lots of humans.
Ultraviolet radiation causes skin to get different mutations that happens when DNA is damaged which then makes cells to be created in fast amounts that then creates a tumor in the skin which is the cancer. Studies show that if Melanoma is found early it can be treated but if it’s not then it’ll begin to spread to different parts of the body and may even cause death. Melanoma was a very common cancer when the Atomic Bomb dropped because the ultraviolet radiation first impacting the skin.
Lung Cancer was another common that occurred on humans. The Atomic Bomb caused lots of smoke to be produced that made its way into the lungs of a lot of people. This smoke caused people to have shortness of breath, wheezing, and even bloody mucus. The way to cure Lung Cancer include surgery, chemotherapy, and sometimes a combination of both. Kiara Germ Cell Tumors is a “neoplasm derived from germ cells. ” Meaning a new and abnormal growth of tissue in a part of the body is made of germ cells.
Germ cell tumors can be cancerous or noncancerous tumors these tumors usually occur inside the ovary and testis the ovary is located in the pelvis and the testis is located in the scrotum. In the text it states “when ionizing radiation causes DNA damage (mutations) in male or female reproductive (germ) cells, that damage can be transmitted to the next generation” this means that the survivors got DNA damaged by ionized radiation in the reproductive area that can later on damage their kids or grandkids at birth.
The cure for germ cell tumors is “unilateral salpingo-oophorectomy followed by combination chemotherapy, second-look laparotomy which is surgery that is done after treatment to see if any tumor cells remain, after that is a clinical trial of a new treatment. Atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumor is a rare fast growing tumor scientist say “usually diagnosed in childhood under the age of 3” which means a child who survived the atomic bombing who got diagnosed with at/rt tumor. This tumor is usually a brain tumor which can occur in the central nervous system including your spinal cord.
The cause of at/rt is by genetic mutation “there is no way to prevent at/rt” says a tumor specialist. Craniopharyngioma is a noncancerous tumor that forms at the base of the brain. The cause of this tumor affects children 5-10 years old the cause of this tumor still remains unknown. Treatment for this tumor is surgery and after surgery is radiation therapy if the tumor can’t be removed also open biopsy which is having a needle being inserted through a hole in your skull
All In conclusion these horrific injuries of cancer, blood disorders, and tumors were all high risk to survivors of the atomic bombing. The Atomic Bomb caused many people who lived in Hiroshima and Nagasaki to become ill and permanently injured. These injuries were very horrific due to their damage to human skin. It caused humans to look mutated and severely injured. Imagine having to be a kid in school and witnessing people die and suffer. I learned that kids were sent after the bomb dropped, to find their own families and homes.
