In Defense of Food was quite shocking at first. In all honesty, it made me think I was going to die within the next week due to a heart attack triggered by all the junk I eat. Considering I myself indulge in processed cookies from the aisles of Stop and Shop, and steak tips that have been marinating in salt for two days, the film hit close to home. Don’t eat “food-like edible substances”, or processed foods, all the time; keep them in moderation, or cut them out altogether if you can. “Not too much” means keep all food intake in moderation; try this by using smaller plates to keep portion sizes down, and stop eating before you feel full. Give your food some time to digest. “Mostly plants” is self explanatory, eat mostly fruits and vegetables. Also, eat all your colors of plants, for each present their own set of vital nutrients. For example, green plants (and fish) contain omega-3s. Omega-3s are vital to our health and cannot be produced by the human body; they have to be eaten.
