How can someone else’s choices affect your life and the way you might live? It would be nice if we did not have to worry about anything where there was nothing wrong and everything went your way. Although we live in a world that we do not always get what we want. These struggles are shown in this story by Alyss’ life story and what she goes through. In the Looking Glass Wars by Beddor shows that the troubles and conflicts that a girl can go through can change her dramatically. Young Alyss was very naive and childish ,but maybe once she goes through some things not so perfect she will become closer to perfect.

Since “She had grown to love them, perhaps as a kidnapped person grows to love those who hold her captive ,but it was love. Alyss knew that.”(Beddor 231) she knew what love was now ,and sometimes once you know what love is it hurts. Alyss had finally accepted her new family and became more like the them ,until at her wedding she was taken back to what she had accepted was a childhood fantasy. Alyss may have not realized that she would miss the Lydells ,but now that she is way from them she is torn between her birthplace and where she grew up. In this case she needed to pass through the looking glass maze, “She landed gently on her feet in the middle of what appeared to be a prison- a looking glass prison. On every side of her were looking glasses as tall as forever ,and no matter what direction she turned she saw her reflection.”(Beddor 300). Alyss had found the looking glass maze and now the Alyssians were fighting and depending on her ,but this looked impossible it looked like a prison not a maze. Alyss had all this pressure could she do it her mom had ,but every queen had to alyss had to pass this to become stronger than ever can she do it? After defeating her villainous aunt, “The walrus bowed to Alyss, pleased that fate had granted him the occasion. ‘I welcome your return most heartily Queen Alyss,’ he said. That brought Alyss around. No one had ever called her Queen before.”(Beddor 348). Alyss has taken over her throne and Redd is gone, Alyss is now in her rightful spot as queen.
