I think they are! So many people in the entertainment business set great examples for our youth to strive for the best and most out of life. Take musicians they really come through in times of need. Take this past few weeks with the tragedies in New York City and Washington D. C they have helped organize relief funds and benefit concerts for the families who lost their loved ones. They went to the scenes and helped out by passing out food and water. This I think sets a good positive outlook for today’s youth.
It shows that not everything is about glamour and that these superstars are affected by this as well and everyone needs to lend a hand. Many of today’s youth like the fashion and glamour that comes with being a famous musician. Today’s youth get there fashion ideas from seeing what these superstars wear and support. They help shape the way these children think just by what they are wearing . For those who cannot afford the same things there are other ways to look like there favorite acts. Musicians are like eye candy and it is appealing.
If you think about I would rather have today’s youth by clothing and cd’s then other things. So they are setting and example and helping other forms of business as well. A side from all the accessories musicians show that anyone can be where they are it is attainable. Musicians donate time to help today’s youth to learn about what music really, with the help of MTV’s network Vh1 they support a program called save the music. It is a program which is designed to save music programs in school because budgets cut music programs out of the overall picture when it comes to spending.
Musicians came in to help stop this and donated their time and money to this cause. Many musicians also speak of their troubled life and how music also helped them escape their fears and troubled areas and gave them new hope. I think that today’s youth look to musicians for a sense of belonging. They understand what every one is going through that might know exactly where a certain musician is coming from and this gives them a reason to look up to and consider that musician a role model, just for that sign of belongings. Musicians do so much to reach out to today’s youth .
Mariah Carey set up a free concert at her old high school. Just for the kids that go to there. A lot of musicians give back to there respective cities and towns. A lot of other musicians are involved in benefit concerts and recordings, musician like Michael Jackson , Quincy Jones set up recording to help people in South Africa fight apartheid and helped get relief to the millions starving in Ethiopia. In a few nights you will see 20 musicians sing for charity to help the police and families of those involved in the World Trade Center tragedy.
I think this is something that is positive and it shows today’s youth what it means to be a human . Everyday a superstar does something to impress our youth and it is taken as if that particular star was talking directly to that youth. ” Most of us are concentrating on the things that really matter, like our talents and goals. Music plays a large role in all of our lives, but for teens, music becomes especially important, giving a voice to those unable to speak their feelings.
It is also the number one reason why many teens stay away from drugs. As part of a national initiative conducted by the National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign, music was the number one response from more than 25,000 kids, age 9-17, who responded online and through the mail. “What’s Your Anti-Drug? ” is part of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy’s National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign, an integrated communications effort designed to educate and empower all youth to reject illicit drugs.
In a collaboration with the Musicians’ Assistance Program, the recording industry’s nonprofit treatment referral service, the Partnership for a Drug-Free America is enlisting well-known musicians to speak out about the pain drugs have inflicted on their friends and families, how drugs damage creativity and careers and how recovery is possible through treatment. Groups and individual artists include Mary J. Blige, Everclear lead singer Art Alexakis; Lauryn Hill; Troy Nowell, KISS; Chuck D; Meredith Brooks; Lorrie Morgan; Chuck Negron, the former lead singer of Three Dog Night; the late Scatman John and the Dixie Chicks.
Each of these performers appeal to a different sector of the music culture, but all deliver a single message: drugs may appear glamorous, but in reality are destructive forces that ruin talent, end careers, destroy lives and kill. “(about. com 2001) Today’s superstar musicians help fill that void that is missing from the youth of today’s lives. They are the parents that are not around after school. They are the voices that separate good from bad. They are the ones that comfort us when we are lonely or upset.
Their music is there when you need most. They can live through their lives and adventures. They see them at their very best and never leave when it is important. They are the ones that have been there and have gotten out. They mean everything to a youngster if for only a instant that youth can feel different if at most only a moment. This why the youth will look up to a superstar. So are today’s superstar musician a role model for today’s youth. Yes I believe so, they give so much and show how much they care.
They are the ones who are helping the less fortunate. With getting aid to those who need it and also helping people learn how to use there own musical abilities for their own advancement. They have the ability to shape the minds of the youth. They want to be looked up to by the youth, they want to be the role models of today’s youth. These superstars feel the have so much to give back and if they are looked upon by just one child it makes it all worth while for them.
