Miguel Lonnell Manchion Summary

Sunday, August 28th, 2016 at approximately 6:45 a.m., I Detective L. Donegain conducted a noncustodial interview of Miguel Lonnell Manchion (black male, 6/2/1976 of 1207 Southwood Drive, Fayetteville, North Carolina 28304 (910) 364-1330). The interview was conducted at the Police Administration Building. The interview was audio and video recorded and is contained in the case file on CD#00. The interview was transcribed by Speak Wright and is contained in the case file.

The following is a summary of Miguel Manchion’s interview: – Manchion was hanging out with Derrick McClain [Terra-D] and Derrick Robinson [D-Rock] earlier in the evening. – Manchion was at his apartment with Tonya, who is a female friend of his. – Derrick McClain [Terra-D] knocked on the Manchion’s door and wanted to hang out with Manchion. – Manchion told Derrick McClain [Terra-D] to wait, minutes later he heard multiple gunshots. – Manchion stated he heard about eight or nine gunshots in-front of his apartment.

– Manchion looked outside and saw Derrick Robinson [D-Rock] lying in the road in-front of his apartment. – Manchion stated he though he saw someone moving so he closed the door. – Manchion stated minutes later someone was beating on his front door. – When Manchion looked outside, he noticed Darrell Hinton [D-Rock] lying on the ground. – Manchion then pulled Hinton into his apartment. – Manchion stated Hinton told him that they were waiting for him, but did not give him any names. – Manchion then went out his backdoor to Hinton’s apartment and got his wife. – Manchion stated Hinton’s family showed up at his apartment to get Hinton.

– Manchion stated Hinton did not want to leave from his apartment. – Manchion stated he threatened to get the Police and Hinton decided to leave. – Manchion stated Hinton and Derrick Robinson[D-Rock] were not really friends. After the interview Manchion was taken back to his residence. When I arrived at the crime scene, I checked with Patrol Officers to see if Derrick McClain’s son was ok. I learned family members for McClain had arrived and were with Mcclain’s son. I then made contact with Debbie Morales black female, 9/5/1961 of 12209 Amorettoway Raleigh, North Carolina 27613 (910) 286-0294.

I learned Morales was the mother of Derrick Mcclain [Terra-D]. At approximately 8:20 a.m., I responded out to Murphy’s residence at 1084 Strathon Drive. I arrived and contacted Patrol Officers on scene. I noticed a vehicle in the front yard with the driver’s door open. The vehicle had a temporary North Registration plate 22332999 with a vehicle identification number of 1G11B5517EF178391. I attempted to make contact with anyone at the residence. I did not get any response from within the residence. I then secured the door and went back to the crime scene.

At approximately 8:45 a.m., I arrived at the crime scene and was given a set of vehicle key belonging to Nancy Credle of 1435 Artesain Ct Fayetteville, North Carolina 28304 (910) 703-4165. The vehicle keys were Credle’s Chevrolet which was struck by bullets during the homicide. All of the vehicles which were struck by bullets were all towed to the Police Administration Building. At approximately 9:26 a.m., Members of the Homicide Unit conducted a canvas of the neighborhood. I made contact with Kevin Walls black, male of 1227 Southwood Drive Fayetteville, North Carolina 28304 (910) 867-0353.

The following is a summary of the interview with Kevin Walls: – Walls heard about 16 or 17 gunshots at about 1:00 a.m. – The gunshots started from the front yard area, and then went towards the back yard. – His neighbor’s drives a grey Ford focus, they are black males about 20 or 30. – Walls neighbors have dreads and lives at 1225 Southwood Drive. – Walls landlord is Saul Kent (910)583-1052. I also checked 1220 Southwood Drive the residence of Darrell Hinton aka blackout. Parked in the front of the residence was a white Cadalic with North Carolina registration plate DBW5412.

I attempted to contact the residence but, I did not get a response from the residence. I then learned Detective D. Johnson was conducting a critical interview with Derrick Robinson’s girlfriend Emily Hamlin. I then went to the Police Administration Building to interview Amos Shaw. Sunday, August 28th, 2016 at approximately 10:45 a.m., I Detective L. Donegain conducted a noncustodial interview of Amos Rashaad Shaw (black male, 10/10/1989 of 1225 Southwood Drive Fayetteville, North Carolina 28304). The interview was conducted at the Police Administration Building. The interview was audio and video recorded and is contained in the case file on CD#00.

The interview was transcribed by Speak Wright and is contained in the case file. The following is a summary of Amos Shaw’s interview: – Shaw stated he and his brother were moving furniture into his brother’s apartment earlier in the day. – Shaw stated he and his brother were also with Travis who drives a gray truck. – Shaw stated he and his brother left from Applecross and went to the area of South Gate Road. – Shaw stated when he and Kenneth Shaw returned to Applecross Ave the Police was in the area because of a shooting.

– Shaw state he and Kenneth Shaw were stopped by the Police. – Shaw stated he and Kenneth Shaw were then walking in the area of the apartments later in the evening. – Shaw state he herd multiple gunshots at least 10. – Shaw stated his brother told him he was hit. – Shaw stated his brother was shot in the shoulder. – Shaw stated he did not see anyone in the area at the time of the shooting. – Shaw stated he drove his brother to the Hospital. – Shaw stated he and his brother was shooting guns earlier in the day. – Shaw stated he usually carries a .40 caliber pistol, when he carries a gun.

– Shaw stated he would have gunshot residue on his hands, because he shoots guns all of the time. – Shaw stated he was new to the area and did not know anyone from the area. – Shaw stated he did not know Derrick McClain aka Terra-D, Derrick Robinson aka D-Rock and Darrell Hinton aka Rell. At approximately 11:52 a.m., I contacted a Bobby Carlyle phone number (910)221-1845. I attempted to see if 1225 Southwood Drive belonged to him. I was advised by Bobby Carlyle that he thought the building belongs to Doctor Soti and did not have the Doctor’s phone number.
