Respect is the act of showing respect for someone or something. It’s a term used to describe a positive sensation of regard for someone or something. Respect is defined as the respect and consideration shown by an individual towards others. It is not possible to command respect; it must be earned. We are taught to respect our parents, elders, teachers, and other people from a young age.
Respect is an unspoken rule that exists in every society. Respect can be of various types: Respect for elders, respect for teachers, respect for parents, respect for friends, self-respect and so on.
One should always give importance to the feelings, opinions and views of others. We should never try to hurt anyone’s sentiments. Respect is a two way street, we should also learn to respect ourselves. One cannot expect others to respect us if we do not respect ourselves.

Respect ia a tool we use everyday wether we now it or not. For example, repecting our elders. We all have been told at some point in our lives to “show some respect.” What does this mean? Showing some respect means being polite and kind to someone even if you don’t know them or don’t agree with what they are saying. Listening with undivided attention and not interrupting when others are speaking. It also includes agreeing to disagree and being okay with that. Lastly, it is also important to show physical respect by not invading someone’s personal space (i.e. bubble) uness they have given you permission to do so.
Respect is something that should be earned and not given away freely. People who Respect themselves tend to be more Respectful of others. The cycle of Respect can only continue if we Respect each other and our differences. When we Respect each other, we are teaching the world around us how to Respect us as well. We live in a world where there is so much disharmony and Respect can be the key to help bring some peace into our lives.

We may feel that we are not good enough, that we are not smart enough, or that we are not attractive enough. We may even feel that we are worthless. On the other hand, if we have high self-esteem, we will see ourselves in a positive light. We will feel that we are good enough, smart enough, and attractive enough. We will feel that we have value and that we are worth something.
