The Wrong Choice Nearly half of all pregnancies among American women are unintended, and four in 10 of these are terminated by abortion. Abortion should be made illegal, because a fetus is a baby, no person has a right to take another’s life, and an unborn baby cannot make the decision to live or die. While some view abortion as something people should be able to choose, others say abortion is a great evil, which is destroying the moral fabric of society Cline (2010). Many of the arguments turn on the status of the fetus: Is a fetus a person? A fetus Is Indeed a baby.
From the moment of conception, a fetus Is alive and growing Inside the mother’s womb. For this reason, the fetus is a baby and considered a living, breathing being. If this were not so, then why is there a law in the state of California that if a person murders a pregnant female, that person is then charged with two counts of murder Instead of Just one? This Is true no matter how far along the mother is, one day or nine months. Therefore, this makes the fetus a real person. No person has the right to take another person’s life. Many skeptics say that the Bible goes not say anything specifically about abortion.
That there are no references to women seeking to end pregnancies, for example, by using herbs or other chemicals, despite the fact that abortion must have been a known practice at the time Cline. At the same time, the Bible teaches that murder Is a sin, and that God Is the only one who can make the decision If a person should live or die. Therefore, If It Is wrong to murder, it is also wrong to abort a baby. People are forced to “play God” whenever a decision is made about reproduction. From the perspective of the law, if a person omits murder, he or she is held accountable and punished.
This fact definitely proves that It is wrong to take a person’s life. There is also another point to ponder; If a doctor accidental harms a fetus during a medical procedure he or she can be held liable. However, an abortion doctor is allowed to intentionally harm the same fetus and this is said to be all right. There is a fine line there and It should not be at all. An Unborn baby cannot make its own decision to live or die. Every child deserves a chance to live; it is not the child’s fault if the parent does not want to give birth to hat child.
Abortions sometimes happen because many women are afraid to step up to the responsibility of caring for a child, or maybe they are financially or mentally unstable. Nevertheless, many abortions take place simply because some women Just do not want the baby. Using abortion for birth control is wrong and immoral but there are many women who still do It. People need to become educated In the truth and laws need to definitely change. There are too many abortions being performed and children are not able to have a chance at life.
An unborn baby also cannot voice 1 OFF abortion takes away a baby’s right to make the decision to live or die. Many people who are for abortions argue that abortion should be allowed in certain cases, such as rape or incest, or when the pregnancy could threaten the life or health of the mother. These same people also say that abortion must remain legal because a woman should have the right to control her body and her destiny. This may be true for the mother but one must also consider the unborn child and its’ need for protection. A fetus is a helpless being; it cannot scream or get away when an abortion is being performed.
The one who is supposed to be the child’s protector is the one who made the choice to disallow the baby live. Abortion is definitely not the right choice. There are alternatives to abortion and adoption is one. In the case of rape or incest abortion is not a solution, adoption is though. There are many loving families that would love to have the opportunity to nurture and care for a child. Many of these couples are unable to conceive, so this would be a perfect solution for the problem on both sides. Most important, the unborn child gets what he or she deserves; a chance at life.
With these points made, there is no question that abortion should be made illegal. From the moment of conception the fetus or baby is alive. Although it may not have a pulse or heartbeat the fetus is a living being. Also no living person has the right to take another persons life, murder is murder. The last point being, the baby who is inside cannot make any decisions and is paying the consequences for something he or she cannot prevent or help. No matter what some may believe, one cannot ignore the plain and simple truth; abortion is not the solution for the problem. The facts do not lie; it is Just what it is: murder.
