I was so excited. The day Ive waited for, it was June 25th and I was finally leaving for my much anticipated trip to Italy. Ive always wanted to go to Italy and go see everything it has to offer. It was a long flight so I decided to watch the excellent airline movie, then listen to some of the latest musical hits and read the great instructions on what to do in case of an emergency. Travelling to Italy was only one of the many things I wanted to do after I finished high school.
Last year I spent most of my summer in Cancun, and the year before that I spent it in Australia where I got to meet many of my fathers relatives. Often I would fall into a dream, hoping on day they would come true. I always worried that when I went on vacation I would find the girl of my dreams. I always dreamt that I would find he blond haired green eyed girl that would be everything I ever wanted. People come on you know how much I hate waiting said Linda and we all knew how much she did. It was a long flight and everyone just wanted to go back to the hotel, but unfortunately, Linda had other plans for us, even though it was already six oclock. Our first stop was at Del Mia Casa restaurant , I was starving since I didnt dine on the fine cuisine that the airline offered. The smell outside tantalised our taste buds and we just couldnt wait to eat. After the perfect meal Linda finally decide it was time to end the day and check into our hotel room and goo to sleep.
Ah good night and sleep tight Joseph I said to myself as I jumped on to my firm yet comfortable mattress Rise and shine, sunshine said a perching its time to go or else we will be late and you know how much I hate being late said Linda. Are you crazy Linda, I know your hot and everything but what the hell are you doing in my room at seven oclock in the morning Hurry up everyone is waiting for you, we have a lot to do today, unless you want to stay here all day? Okay, Ive waited my whole life for this, so I guess Ill meet you outside in ten minutes as I kicked her outta my room I got ready in record time.
It was a great day, we visited the Coliseum, the mountains, it was amazing to see the whole city and all its beauty. We were almost at the boot of Italy Sicily. We had been waiting for our ferryboat to come. When all of a sudden the loud sound of the boat finally called. We were on our way to see one of the nicest cities in Italy Palermo. Ever since I was little my father told me how great Sicily was and thats where he meet my mother so it was perfect for me to go there. Hey, you look confused said one of the waitresses.
Lost in a dream, I look at her, studied her and I was intrigued by her looks and smile. Do I know you from somewhere? she asked. No I find that almost impossible since this is my first time in Sicily as she walked away her sexy smile remained in my head for a while. There was something that just attracted me to her as soon as I seen her. all right everyone, its time to go back to the hotel and get a good night sleep said Linda. I was so disappointed we had to go back and just wished that she would come back and say goodnight.
When suddenly someone came up behind me and whispered softly in my ear, You dont have to leave do you? I turned around and I saw her great green eyes connect with my eyes and it was like love at first sight. I want to take you out, show you the city so I ran to Linda and told her to go on without me. That night was the best night of my life. Maria took me for a walk in the piazza, the beach for a midnight walk. On the way back to the hotel I knew the night was going to end but I didnt want it to. So like a gentle men I kissed her on the cheek and told her I would see her soon.
As I gazed into her eyes I could tell she didnt want to let me, and I felt my heart breaking as I said good bye for the zillionth time. As I left I asked if I would see her again and she said tomorrow if I want. As I stood in the doorway, watching her go, I ran after her garbed her arm, turned her around and kissed her ever so softly and said Ill miss you. That night I laid on my bed, I couldnt stop thinking about Maria. The way she smiled, the way she looked at me like she was confused, I could just fell it was the start of something special.
The only worry had was how to tell her I was leaving in a few days. My dreams of love were being filled and I had to shatter them because of the space between us. The next day, the birds were chirping, the sky was clear, and the sun was shinning. All that was on my mind was Maria. As I was thinking the only thing I could think of was how to tell her. That night I waited for Maria to come when finally the gentle tapping of her knock tickled my ear. I was so excited to answer the door that I fell over the rug and flat on my face. Joseph are you okay? I got up quickly and ran to the door.
As I opened the door, everything felt okay and I felt that felling once again. She looked beautiful her hair grazed her face and her black pants looked great with her baby blue tube top. Are you okay she asked again, finally after being amazed by her beauty for so long, I snapped out of it and replied You look great. So Maria, what are we doing tonight? I guess your just going to have to wait and see she replied We finally pulled into a long pathway the lead to the beach. I thought to myself that maybe she was going to take me for another walk. She told me to take off my shoes and placed a blindfold on me.
She guided me down a path and then I started to walk on the sand because I felt the cool sand between my toes. A few seconds later we stooped and she took off the blindfold. As she remover it I saw a bonfire lit, a blanket, strawberries and Champaign. Around the blanket there were blue roses which is my favourite colour. I stood in awe as I saw what Maria did for me, after only knowing her for a day now. As we sat down she prepared a wonderful meal for me and while enjoying it we just stared into each others eyes, when I felt a sudden chill come over me and I knew I had to tell her.
Maria I have to tell you, you know Im from Canada and I have to leave in a couple days, but I wish this didnt have to end It doesnt have to she said with loneliness in her eyes Ive been thinking, I knew you were going to have to leave soon so, I wanted to ask you if you would stay here with me Shocked at her proposal I sat there in amazement I had to chose between my love and my life. Not knowing what to say we both just headed back to the hotel, when we got there she kissed me on the forehead and said think about what I said. As I got back to my room, I sat in a chair staring at the stars and thought about what she said.
I though of my life back home, my parents, my job, my friends and all the past relationships I had encountered all entered my mind, but something was telling me Maria was for real. It just felt like the movies, when Prince Charming finally found Cinderella. As I sat alone in my room, I regretted not telling her how much I cared for her and wanted to stay with her. The next day I called my father for advice and at first he just told me stories about his life and how it felt when he meet the love of his life, then he told me to find a balance between life and love and that I should ask her to move to Canada with me.
The only thing I could think of was how much I loved Maria. As soon as I got off the phone I went to see Maria and asked her to move with me. Are you being serious? she said Yes Maria, I am I want to be with you because you are the only one for me and Ti Amo Yes of course I will move with you she replied and at that moment I pulled her into my arms and softly put he tender lips onto mine, and that kiss lasted forever.
