Personal Narrative Essay On Sunshine State

A five day vacation in the Sunshine state that would create some of my best and most interesting memories. The 5 days of complaining about how it was hot outside, turing into a lobster, and hanging out with my cousin. It was an agreement with my cousins parent that she would live in south Dakota and fly to florida every other summer. The summers my cousin wouldn’t fly down my uncle would come and visit in south Dakota. The night before we left for florida my cousin came and stayed at my house. We all packed excited for the adventures were about to have in the coming days.

We got up early and left for the airport. The empty lines made us get through air port security in no time at all. It was time to just wait a good hour for a the air plane to take us to florida. When the plane arrived the fights were to begin on who gets the window seat and who didn’t. It was a strait flight to florida so in not time we arrived and were ready to have fun. Walking out of the air plane I immediately noticed the difference in the climate. It was so much more warmer than anywhere I had ever been.

We pulled our luggage behind us and we walked up and down looking at our new surrounding. All the time lizards and reptiles you would see sitting on walls and trees. You would attempt to creep up to them and they would run away. None of the kids sat still while waiting for my uncle to come get us. When he finally arrived we had a hour drive back to his house. That whole car ride all I did was look at all the new scenery in amazement. Pulling up to his house small house he shared with his girlfriend we got our luggage and walked inside.

On the walk inside more lizard on the wall and by the lights stood out to me. However when we went inside you couldn’t tell much of a difference between inside and outside the humidity was so high. We sat outside for hours that day catching up with my uncle and getting settled in. The only thing I wanted to do was swim in the pool but had to wait until tomorrow. Not having enough beds my uncle made a trip to Target to get twin mattresses for people to sleep. The next morning we woke up pretty early and went driving around the new state we were visiting.

That day was filled with swimming in the pool. That day a cat ended up in the pool, and the two twin mattresses ended up soaking wet. My cousin and I were playing with soakers trying to hit each other. She dunked under the water to avoid being hit by me. I was standing and waiting for her to come out from under the water. She slowly come up and i start spraying. I drill her right in the eye. That was the end of the activities for that day. The next day was set up to be a amazing and long day. We rented a car that day and drove three hours early in the morning to go to orlando.

The plan was to go to universal studios. After we finally got there and paid to get in walking in felt amazing. It was a long walk just to get to all the entertainment. You could walk in circles around the whole place and be totally lose but still having fun. My favorite part of that day was the harry potter ride. They strapped you in to a seat with your feet dangling. Zooming through the ride as Harry Potter talked to you. The motion sickness started to come on in the middle of the ride but i didn’t care. Then when we were face to face with a dragon, the riders got a blast of steam.

The ride home everyone crashed. The next couple days what we did was blurry, but the last day was a lot of fun. It was gonna be my first time going to the ocean. We suit up and drove the 20 minute drive to the beach. We get there and I go and stand by the water right away. Not to long into swimming I learned the dangers of the ocean. I flashed back to the walk up where it said “Watch for Rip Currents! ” I was out in the ocean with my mom and step-dad and we felt as if we were being pulled out further and further into the ocean.

We realized we were in a rip current and it was weak enough for us the walk the horizontally out of it. After another hour I was out riding wave on boogie board with my you cousin. I noticed that we were a lot further out then we had been. I felt us moving out into the ocean. I screamed at my cousin who was out a lot further than me the we need to swim in. I start swimming horizontally to try to get out. This time it was harder because the current was stronger. My cousin finally heard my screaming attempts and started trying to swim into shore.

The problem was she was swimming strait toward the shore and wasn’t getting any where. I yelled “ Swim Horizontally. We made it out and got to shore and were done swimming after that. The trip was over and it was time to go home and I was ready. That trip had showed me part of the country I had never seen before and gave me amazing memories. My uncle drove us to the airport. We said our goodbyes and headed home. Surprisingly enough when we got home South Dakota was warmer than Florida because they were having some bad weather.
