Contrast Two Views on Abortion

Topic: Contrast two views on abortion Abortion refers to the termination of pregnancy at any stage that does not affect birth; medically, according to Oxford Dictionary abortion is defined as the termination of pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a foetus or embryo by natural causes before it is able to survive independently. Abortion is a controversial topic that causes many arguments because of the different opinions that persons have. Abortion has two main proponents, persons that are for abortion and those that are against abortion.

Those that are for abortions think that woman have the right to do anything with their body but those that are against abortion sticks to what the Bible says about taking a life of someone, ” thou shall not kill. The two views on abortions have many similarities, but it also has larger differences in the background. Persons that are for abortion believe that the situation is a moral act because they believe that terminating a foetus’ life under certain circumstances is not only moral, but it is also our responsibility to terminate it if the quantity of life is in questions for the foetus.

Another argument that is often argued by those that are for abortion is, that it should be legalized because they believe that if a woman is pregnant she should have a choice to abort the unborn child. Some advocates believe that there are a number of reasons why a mother would choose to abort. One, reasons was that there may be something wrong with the child and the child to them might be better off never being born than being born and having a life with many serious problems.

People who believe that abortion is moral tries to persuade others making them think about the emotional damage that the parents might go through as well as the child if they were born into this world with a health problem. Another reasons why a mother might choose to get an abortion is if she was raped and she did not want to have the child of someone who she does not love or does not even know. Having a child of someone who raped you could have great emotional stress on some people.

A third reason might be that the mother might already have as many kids as she wants, but she does not want a time in her life where she can not help all them and have to give them to social service to put up for adoption so she believes it would be better not to have the child. Wanting to keep a baby alive that has so many problems that it would have a completely painful life an uncomfortable life is a bad choice.

Whereas those that are against abortion believe that abortion is against God’s law in the Bible, in the Bible one of the ten commandments is “thou shall not kill” meaning that we are to value human life and treat every person with the dignity befitting someone made in the image of God. When we fail to listen to God on this point, there are consequences – more death, more killing, more inhumanity to man. When we listen to him, things are better for everyone. Abortion is murder; it is the killing of an unborn baby.

In the 21st century, regular people are not allowed to go out and just murder someone for no reason, so why should doctors be allowed to murder unborn babies? This is a question that is often argued a lot by those that are against abortion. According to John C. Willke, president of the National Right to Life Committee, “at the union of sperm and ovum there exists a living, single-celled, complete human being. ” Therefore according to what John C. Willke says abortion at any stage of pregnancy is the immoral taking of human life and should be made illegal.

I believe in abortion to an extent. I believe that woman should have the right to abort a baby because its body and they are the ones who are carrying the child. You can not stop a family or a woman for having an abortion because the family might be in a state of financial trouble putting the through a suffering life and forcing them to live in inadequate living conditions. As human beings we never seem to talk off our shoes and put on other people shoes to see why they made that decision, but we would rather judge the person.

Ask yourself this would you have wanted to be born in poverty? Or would you have wanted to be born with an illness that has no cure that may even cause you to die after birth? How would you feel when persons tease you about how you look or your illness or better yet the way you live? The answer would be no. No one wants to live a life like this, and this is what pushes me towards the fact that abortion is not a bad idea to an extent. In a way, I believe that women are being denied their constitutional rights and have no say in decision making.

If we think about it abortion is moral, because at the time of fertilization the embryo is not yet a human being. It is not a human being as yet, but it is likely to become one. Therefore nobody committed muder. Pro-choice activists’ beliefs, that the economics of a family necessitates an abortion, are similar to their beliefs on congenital defects as reason for an abortion. As mentioned earlier a child born with a condition like Down’s syndrome, will tend to live a life of suffering, and in other cases might die after birth this death can have harmful effects on the parents, by leaving emotional scars.

I believe that if a woman was raped she has the right to terminate the child because she was forced to have sexual intercourse with a person that she doesn’t love or doesn’t even know. However I also disagree with abortion, even the thought of abortion hurts. How could somebody even think of taking the life of something that God made. Genesis 1:28 states “be fruitful and multiply. ” God put man and woman on this earth to multiply he did not intend on us to have sexual intercourse and kill something that he made.

I feel that that if you know you have financial problems or too many children already why go and have child that you know will be brought up in poverty causing them to suffer. As mentioned above, in the Bible one of the ten commandments is “thou shall not kill” meaning that we are to value human life and treat every person with the dignity befitting someone made in the image of God. When we fail to listen to God on this point, there are consequences – more death, more killing, more inhumanity to man. When we listen to him, things are better for everyone.

Abortion is murder; it is the killing of an unborn baby. In conclusion the debate about abortion, is still a controversial issue that can never be justified because there will always be disagreements. Those that were against abortion based their arguments on their religious beliefs while those that are for abortion based their arguments on the rights that woman have. Although, both sides have similarities, in broader aspects, of the mother and the choices she makes. These broader aspects, include ideals such as, when a pro-choice activist supports abortions.

His or her support is not stating that abortion is a good idea, but that if it was outlawed it would limits the rights of women. Although, pro-choice activists have numerous beliefs for supporting abortions, they fail to comprehend the economical analysis of abortions. In the eyes of Economics, abortion can also have a negative effect, or an opportunity cost. For example, is the mother of Einstein or Darwin had an abortion, then the opportunity cost would be the loss of knowledge they discovered. Likewise, the opportunity cost of an unborn child due to abortion, whom could have had a significant effect on human race, can be devastating.
