Violence is all around. The main character in this movie is a normal everyday young white teen named Derek. He liked school and lived like a normal kid. He was conversing with his father during breakfast. Derek’s dad asked him what he was learning in school. He explained to him that he was learning about an African American man. His father asked him if it was black history week. Derek said “no, we are just learning about his accomplishments. ” Derek’s thought his teacher was amazing. He never thought of him as being “black” but just as being an amazing teacher.

Derek’s father proceeded to tell him how the “niggers” were taking everything over. It was a plot for all blacks and other illegal imported people to take over the hard working white Americans. He told him that they hired three black men at the Firehouse where he worked. He told him how three white men were passed over. The blacks where not top on the list to be hired. They got the job because they are black. “Joe, owned the local store, now it’s Juan from God knows where” his dad said in a very sarcastic voice. Learn and remember what I’m telling you.

The American white man can’t get decent jobs anymore because the invasion of all the other non-whites trash. He was referring to trash as anyone who wasn’t white catholic. His father was passing on his abnormal behavior to his son. The next scene shows us Derek in an interview with the local news. He was yelling and crying. His father had been murdered. He was convinced that it was a racial killing. This sad event was the start of his joining the skinheads. Two black boys tried to steal his car from in front of Derek’s home.

We see Derek get his gun and head to the front door. His brother was watching him as he opened the door and started firing. Derek killed the first boy with approximately 6-7 bullets. Then Derek proceeded to stomp on his head, splitting his skull. “No! ” Derek’s brother screamed as he watched the hatred evolve in his brother’s eyes. The police came.

There stood Derek in the middle of the road, gun in hand and a large swastika on his chest. He was nodding his head while smirking. He was proud of what he had done and he wanted his brother to see how pleased he was. Derek was now in prison. He joined the skinheads in jail. After working side by side with a black inmate, Derek started to change his thinking. The other skinheads didn’t find that acceptable so they ganged up on him and caught him in the shower and raped him. His old teacher visited Derek, while in the infirmary.

Derek was different, he kept to himself, and speaking to no one except the black man he worked next to. He spent all his time reading books that the teacher brought him. Derek’s mother came to visit him in jail. She told him that his younger brother Ray was following in his footsteps. Ray was now involved with the skinheads. Derek ran out as the other screamed “hey you nigger lover, you trader! ” “Let’s go, now, run” Derek screamed to his brother. His brother wanted to be involved in the skinhead group. That was all he knew. It was what Derek had taught him. Derek spoke to his brother and told him that he was wrong. Hurting people was no way to live.

Derek and his brother tore all the hatred posters from their walls. They were out. There would be no more hating. Derek apologized to his mom for all the problems he had caused in the past. He promised her that he was no longer involved in the skinheads. Derek walked his brother to school. Derek, dressed in a suit and tie, was on his way to get a job to help his mom support the family.

“Boom! A shot rang out, Derek turned an ran back into the school. His worst fear was now reality. His brother was dead. Ray, shot and killed by a black boy that he previously had a run in with.
