Abortion: Pregnancy and Life

What is it all about? Why is it important? Why do we need to value life? There are lots of questions on your mind when you think of life. And there is Just one answer to that life is the greatest gift that we received from God. As simple us that, but why is it hard for others to value and treasure that gift that was given. Here are some quotes to motivate you to value life: “l like living. I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly, acutely miserable, racked with sorrow, but through it all I still know quite certainly that Just to be alive is a rand thing. Ghats Christie mirror living is determined not so much by what life brings to you as by the attitude you bring to life; not so much by what happens to you as by the way your mind looks at what happens. ” Kali Gibbon II. Abortion The word abortion comes from the Latin abortion, which means to abort, miscarry, and deliver prematurely. The Latin word aborts means “miscarriage, premature, untimely birth”. In medicine abortion means ending a pregnancy prematurely. What is it all about? It is the termination of pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of fetus or embryo prior to viability.

An abortion can occur spontaneously, in which case it is usually called a miscarriage, or it can be purposely induced. The term abortion most commonly refers to the induced abortion of a human pregnancy. Unsafe abortions result in approximately 70,000 maternal deaths and 5 million hospital admissions per year globally. An estimated 44 million abortions are performed globally each year, with slightly under half of those performed unsafely. The incidence of abortion has stabilized in recent years, having previously spent cascades declining as access to family planning education and contraceptive services increased.

There are many different reasons why a pregnancy is terminated. Some women have health problems that would likely cause death for the mother should the pregnancy continue. Some pregnancies are non-viable, meaning (among other things) that it is an isotopic pregnancy or that it will result in a stillborn baby. Some women are not in a position to have a child, whether it is due to financial, emotional, or psychological reason, and so they make a choice to terminate the pregnancy rather than raise a hill in an inadequate or unstable environment.

Some women may become pregnant as a result of rape or sexual assault and do not wish to continue the pregnancy. Miscarriages (spontaneous abortions) also occur and there are many reasons for this, as well. It may occur due to chromosomal abnormalities and hormone imbalance in the first trimester, and cervical or uterine problems in the second trimester. IV. What the bible says about abortion? Abortion is never mentioned in the Bible, despite the fact that it has been practiced since ancient times by a variety of means.

However, a number of Bible passages have been cited as being relevant to the abortion issue. They may well state some general principles that are relevant, but none of them were originally intended as statements about abortion. The passage below has been cited as evidence that a fetus is not a living being. Life is equated with breath throughout the Bible, and, taken out of context, this passage seems to suggest that a person is not living until he or she takes a first breath after birth.

However, Genesis Chapter 2 is actually about God’s creation f mankind as special and spiritually-aware beings. The Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. (NIB, Genesis 2:7) This Just only means that what is inside a women’s womb, it is already a creation, blessing, and a gift from God. The passage below seems to say that causing death to a fetus is not as serious a crime as causing death to a person, but it is actually Just part of a long section specifying the punishments for various crimes.

And if men struggle with each other ND strike a woman with child so that she has a miscarriage, yet there is no further injury, he shall surely be fined as the woman’s husband may demand of him; and he appoint as a penalty life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, (NAS, Exodus 21:22-24) V. What the Civil Law says about abortion? The basic status of Abortion in the Philippines is that it is illegal, or banned by rule of law. Seventy percent of unwanted pregnancies in the Philippines end in abortion, according to the WHO.

Approximately 4 in 5 abortions in the Philippines are for economic reasons, often where a woman already has several children and cannot care for another. Article II of the 1987 Philippine Constitution says, in part, “Section 12. The State recognizes the sanctity of family life and shall protect and strengthen the family as a basic autonomous social institution. It shall equally protect the life of the mother and the life of the unborn from conception. The act is criminality by the Revised Penal Code of the Philippines, which was enacted in 1930 and remains in effect today.

Articles 256, 258 and 259 of the Code mandate imprisonment for the Oman who undergoes the abortion, as well as for any person who assists in the procedure, even if they be the woman’s parents, a physician or midwife. Article 258 further imposes a higher prison term on the woman or her parents if the abortion is undertaken “in order to conceal [the woman’s] dishonor”. There is no law in the Philippines that expressly authorizes abortions in order to save the woman’s life; and the general provisions which do penalize abortion make no qualifications if the woman’s life is endangered.

It may be argued that an abortion to save the mother’s fife could be classified as a Justifying circumstance (duress as opposed to self- defense) that would bar criminal prosecution under the Revised Penal Code. However, this has yet to be adjudicated by the Philippine Supreme Court. VI. What the Church says about abortion? The Roman Catholic Church has consistently condemned abortion вЂ? the direct and purposeful taking of the life of the unborn child. Catholic Christians believe that all life is sacred from conception until natural death, and the taking of innocent human life, whether born or unborn, is morally wrong.
